Crater safari Get up early. Drive down into the crater for a full/extended crater game drive. Expect possibilities including: Lion Elephant Buffalo Hippo Zebra Wildebeest Hyena Gazelle Flamingos Rhino, although sightings are never guaranteed The crater is particularly good for game viewing because animals are concentrated in a relatively compact area. The conservation authority notes that the dry season is especially strong for crater wildlife viewing. After the crater: This is where I'd avoid rushing. This is the most important safari destination on your itinerary. Serengeti offers huge plains and major concentrations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeest, zebra and other wildlife. Tanzania's parks authority also lists the Great Migration among its signature attractions. Afternoon Arrive in Serengeti and immediately start your first game drive. Depending on where you're staying, you'll explore: Central Serengeti / Seronera Western Serengeti Northern Serengeti Southern Serengeti / Ndutu The location matters enormously because the migration moves throughout the year.
