Palace on Wheels Train Tour

Departure at 1800 hrs

Arrive at Safdarjung Railway Station from where the Palace on Wheels will begin its weeklong journey. The staff of the train will give you a ceremonial welcome by offering garlands, Tikka, turban and a glass of wine to mark the beginning of the spectacular sojourn. At about 1800 hrs, the train will be ready to chug its way out of the station and into the royal heartland of Rajasthan. You will be ushered to your coaches, where you can enjoy some quiet moments in solitude.

Arrival at 0345 hrs | Departure at 2330 hrs

The first stop of the Palace on Wheels is Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Guests aboard the luxury train will be taken to explore the city in an air-conditioned coach. Here, you can visit the attractions such as Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds and the Jantar Mantar or the royal observatory. Take delight in a sumptuous lunch at the Amber Fort that is located 8 km from Jaipur starting with a joy ride on an Elephant. While here, visit the Sheesh Mahal that is popularly known as the Palace of Mirrors.

Arrival 0530 Hrs | Departure 1030 hrs

On the 3rd day of the journey aboard the Palace on Wheels, guests will arrive in Sawai Madhopur, the nearest base for the Ranthambore National Park. This national park is spread over an area of 1,334 sq km and is well-known for its tiger reserve. Once you have explored the wildlife environs completely, you will return to the luxury train late in the morning to leave for Chittorgarh, the heritage destination of Rajasthan

The train will arrive in Udaipur at 0800 hrs. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh, the city was thus named Udaipur that is home to several white palaces, gracefully laid out gardens and lakes that contribute towards making this city almost like an illusion in the desert. Visit Jag Niwas popularly known as the Lake Palace and the Jag Mandir, while here. Post- lunch visit the marvelous City Palace - a regal architectural wonder located over Lake Pichola

Arrival 0915 hrs | Departure 2345 hrs

The luxury train Palace on Wheels will arrive in Jaisalmer on the 5th day of the sojourn. Jaisalmer is also known as the Golden City and was founded by Rawal Jaisal, in 1156 A.D. During the day you will explore the beauty of the Sonar Quila, a fort constructed in 1156 by the Bhatti Rajput ruler Jaisala. Noteworthy structures that you will visit here include the Megh Durbar and the temples.

Arrival 0700 hrs | Departure 1530 hrs

Your arrival in Jodhpur will mark the beginning of an eventful 6th day of the journey aboard the Palace on Wheels. Visit Mehrangarh fort, one of the largest forts in India, housed in the heart of Jodhpur city. Several palaces such as the Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace, the Phool Mahal or Flower Palace and the Sheesh Mahal are all located within the fort complex

Early morning, the Palace on Wheels will halt at the Bharatpur railway station that houses one of the most popular bird sanctuaries in the subcontinent, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Migratory birds from all over the world come to this park that has been their home for ages

On the 8th day of the sojourn, the Palace on Wheels will land you back in Delhi at about 0600 hrs. Safdarjung Railway Station is the place you will arrive at where you will disembark from the train and continue with your onward journey. The pleasant memories of the past week will however continue to linger on in your mind for a long, long time.
