Badami Museum

Managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, Badami Museum is one of the key landmarks in the city. It is the place that promises a great tour back in time by showcasing the intriguing artifacts and other discoveries made during excavations. It was founded in the year 1979 and perches near the foothills of the Northern Hill that houses the Fort of Badami.

Why Is It Famous?
Badami Museum is known for housing the awe-inspiring collection of the artifacts that date back to the times of the Chalukyan King Pulakesin II. There are different reasons that advocate for it to be a must-see destination. It is located on the premises of a rock-cut building that is said to be the personal space of Chalukyas, however, its utilization is not known. The place houses 2 open-air galleries that exhibit the inscriptions in Kannada, carved stones, and sculptures of the Hindu gods like Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva.

The other galleries display the belongings that were discovered during the excavations. The discoveries like the weaponry, armor, coins, and footwear are shown in this museum.

No visitor is allowed to touch the exhibits. So make sure that you do not touch any item displayed in the galleries. Moreover, carrying food items along will be a wiser choice as the restaurants and eateries are located far from the museum.
