Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 Addis Ababa → Axum

Fly from Addis Ababa to Axum and begin exploring one of Ethiopia’s most important historical destinations.

Visit the famous Axum Obelisks and Stelae Field, the royal tombs of ancient Axumite kings, and the Archaeological Museum, which displays fascinating artifacts from Ethiopia’s ancient civilization.

Continue to the sacred Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, believed by many Ethiopians to be the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant.

Overnight at Yared Zema International Hotel.

Day 2 Axum → Hawzien

After breakfast, drive through the scenic and historic Adwa Mountains toward Hawzien.

Along the route, visit the ancient Temple of Yeha, Ethiopia’s oldest standing structure dating back over 2,500 years. Continue to the famous Debre Damo Monastery, dramatically situated atop a flat-topped mountain.

Pass through the town of Adigrat while enjoying spectacular views of the rugged Tigray landscapes and sandstone formations of the Gheralta region.

Arrive in Hawzien in the late afternoon.

Day 3 Gheralta Mountains Exploration

Today is dedicated to exploring the magnificent Gheralta Mountains, famous for their dramatic cliffs and ancient rock-hewn churches.

Enjoy a scenic hike through breathtaking mountain landscapes to reach the remarkable churches of Mariam Korkor and Daniel Korkor, carved high into the sandstone cliffs.

From the panoramic viewpoints, admire spectacular vistas across the valleys, mountains, and traditional villages of Tigray. The churches contain ancient religious paintings, manuscripts, and fascinating architectural features dating back centuries.

Return to Hawzien for overnight stay.

Day 4 Hawzien → Mekelle → Addis Ababa

Later, transfer to Mekelle Airport for your domestic flight back to Addis Ababa, where the tour concludes.
