This 5-day safari starts and ends in Nairobi or Mombasa and explores Kenyas largest protected wilderness system split into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Travel is typically in a 4x4 safari Land Cruiser or safari van. Tsavo East features wide open plains and iconic red elephants while Tsavo West is more rugged volcanic terrain with springs hills and dense wildlife habitats. Early morning departure along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway into Tsavo East National Park. Entry into Tsavo East often results in immediate game viewing as wildlife roams near the park gate. The afternoon game drive focuses on spotting red elephants dusting themselves in iron rich soil as well as lions giraffes zebras and buffalo while exploring the Galana River and open savannah landscapes. Overnight accommodation is in a lodge or tented camp inside or near Tsavo East.
A full day dedicated to wildlife viewing across Tsavo East. Key attractions include the rocky rapids of Lugard Falls on the Galana River and the Yatta Plateau the worlds longest lava flow. After breakfast transfer from Tsavo East to Tsavo West approximately 3 to 4 hours drive. Afternoon game drive in Tsavo West includes exploration of historic volcanic terrain at the Shetani Lava Flows the Rhino Sanctuary in the Ngulia area and scenic rocky hills with dense vegetation. Tsavo West provides a more dramatic landscape compared to Tsavo East.
Full day safari in Tsavo West offering immersion in its diverse ecosystem. Highlights include Mzima Springs with crystal clear water home to hippos and crocodiles panoramic views of the Chyulu Hills and opportunities for big game spotting including elephants lions leopards and buffalo.
