Highlights
Masai Mara National Reserve
Amboseli National Park
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative for a warm meet and greet. After a brief introduction and safari briefing, you will be transferred to your city hotel, the Ibis Styles Hotel, Westlands, where you’ll check in and relax after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore the nearby restaurants, enjoy a quiet evening, or simply rest and prepare for the exciting safari ahead. Nairobi could just be East Africa's most exciting city, thanks to its buzzing nightlife, well-regarded restaurant scene and excellent shopping. And it's more than just a gateway to the safari parks elsewhere in the country. Nairobi also has stellar wildlife and other attractions that make it worth visiting quite apart from exploring further afield.
Amboseli National Park is where many safari travelers fall in love with Kenya. That's because this park packs a lot into a small space. Towering over it all is Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m), Africa's highest mountain: Kili may be in Tanzania, but the best views are from Amboseli. Wildlife highlights might include lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, and, best of all, big-tusked elephants that you can get really close to. It's this combination of spectacular views and wildlife that really elevates Amboseli into the elite of Kenya's wildlife parks.
Evening Game Drive, Amboseli National Park Going on an evening game drive is one of the highlights of any safari. This is when temperatures cool, the light becomes softer and the wildlife begins to get active. Not only will you be out when the light is best for taking photos, but it's also one of the best times of day for seeing the animals.
Wake up to the sight of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow capped peaks and set out for an early morning game drive when the animals are most active. Amboseli’s landscape a blend of swamps, savannahs, and acacia woodland is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalos, and abundant birdlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast and enjoy leisure time before your afternoon game drive. You might also spot hippos bathing in the marshes or Maasai herders tending their cattle along the park’s edge.
One of the most beautiful of Kenya's Rift Valley lakes, Lake Naivasha is a pretty place where you're likely to see hippos, and where zebras and giraffes roam the lakeshore. It's a lovely interlude during your safari.
One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That's because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights, not to mention black rhinos in the Mara Triangle. There's a very good chance you'll also see giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. And bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. It's a place of beautiful savannah landscapes as well, with lots of acacia trees.
Evening Game Drive, Masai Mara National Reserve You'll love the warm light and cooler temperatures as we take you out to explore on your evening game drive. This time of day is when both predators and prey are most active and it can feel as though anything could happen at any moment. This is when you'll most enjoy being on safari.
Going on safari once in the Masai Mara is a privilege, but you get to return to this special place and enjoy it all over again. Spend a full day exploring the wonders
of the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve’s rolling grasslands and rich ecosystem offer exceptional opportunities for photography and close wildlife encounters.
After an early breakfast, You’ll drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon. Upon arrival, you’ll be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of a memorable 7- day Southern Kenya Safari filled with breath taking scenery, rich wildlife encounters, and unforgettable memories.
