Before this trek starts from beautiful Phobjikha valley (3000m above sea level) also known as the valley of black neck crane. With the construction of farm roads today this trek starts from Gogona fourteen Km away from Phobjikha valley. Gangtey in olden days was the summer residence of Gangtey Trulku and the beautiful Phobjikha valley is the winter residence of the rare and endangered bird black neck crane. On this trek one can visit Gangtey monastery and Gogona Monastery. You will experience the village life in rural Bhutan. On clear weather one can see the snow capped peaks like Gangchen Ta, Masang Gang, Tsendra Gang and Table Mountain on the 2nd day of your trek from Phephela pass. In spring season the different species of Rhododendrons will be in full bloom.
