A 7 day guided trek from Arusha to Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro following the Londorossi and Shira route. The package includes return transfers from Arusha, Kilimanjaro National Park fees, professional English speaking mountain guide, assistant guides, porters and cook, camping equipment, all meals during the climb, drinking water, rescue fees and a summit certificate. The itinerary covers trekking through rainforest, heath and moorland, the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower acclimatization, Barranco Wall, Barafu base camp and a midnight summit to reach Uhuru Peak.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel in Arusha. You will drive to Londorossi Gate for registration before starting the trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Expect driving time of approximately 4 to 5 hours and a hike of about 3 to 4 hours. Meals provided include lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
After breakfast you continue hiking through the heath and moorland zone while enjoying spectacular views of the Shira Plateau. The hike typically takes about 5 to 6 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Todays trek is shorter to aid acclimatization as you cross the beautiful Shira Plateau. Hiking time is around 4 to 5 hours allowing your body to adjust to increasing altitude. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Climb gradually to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. This important acclimatization day greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit. Expect a longer trekking day of about 6 to 8 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall before trekking through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp. The hike usually takes about 4 to 5 hours. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Karanga Camp.
Continue to Barafu Camp which is the base camp for your summit attempt. After an early dinner rest and prepare for the midnight climb to the summit. Hiking time to Barafu Camp is approximately 3 to 4 hours. Meals for the day are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barafu Camp.
Start your summit attempt shortly after midnight to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m, the highest point in Africa, and enjoy the unforgettable sunrise. After summiting descend to Mweka Gate where you will receive your summit certificate before driving back to Arusha. Expect a very long day with hiking time between 10 and 14 hours. Meals provided are breakfast and lunch.
