  Climbing Mount Kenya was a completely different experience for us. As soon as I started the journey on the Sirimon route, I realized that this trek is not just about climbing the peak, but also about experiencing nature from close quarters. The view of the huge trees, rocky paths and Mackinders Valley is really impressive. While descending through the Chogoria route after seeing the greenery of bamboo, fountains and deep gorge valley I wanted to stop again and again.   The booking process with Trip Genius Advisory Tours and Safaris was smooth and accommodating, even on short notice. Their guide, Ken, arrived early with a safari pop-up vehicle and took guests to the Giraffe Centre, a local market, and Nairobi National Park for a private 5-hour tour. They saw a wide range of wildlife, including lions, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, and more. Ken was knowledgeable, respectful of animals, attentive, and helped with photos without being overly talkative. The experience ended with a visit to Carnivore Restaurant.   Bottom line up front: the best trip EVER. That is a bold statement because I have been to over 50 countries (including 8 African countries). The accommodations, the people, the country, our guide and the animals defied all expectations. To start with Kosen (the owner of the tour company) arranged the trip to be exactly what we asked for. No detail was spared. It was our 30th anniversary and there was a special touch at every stop. More importantly, they sponsor schools in the bush to make sure the kids get a chance for education. They have recued young girls and built dormitories so they can get an education and autonomy. Furthermore, they sponsor soccer teams in the slums of Nairobi for impoverished urban kids and create academic support and tutoring programs to help lift them out of poverty.   An enjoyable day trip from Nairobi We took a day trip of Nairobi National Park, Giraffe centre and Karen Blixen museum from Safarilinks. The communication with Douglas was prompt, transparent and professional. Our driver and guide Titus was friendly and knowledgeable. Even though it was raining in the morning and we couldn't see lions because of that, we still saw Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, Zebras, Impalas, Buffaloes, Crocodiles, Antelopes and lots of birds in their natural habitat. We had a nice day trio and would recommend this company to fellow travelers. ...more
