Tamarana Beach is highly famous for two activities and they are swimming and surfing. Two things that make this beach distinctive are the height of the waves and the number of rescues of swimmers that have been carried out here. Extra precautions must be taken while swimming. People who are not that experienced should not get played by the small beach. Though the Tamarana Beach is just 80 m long but it has got a great wave climate. The whole surf zone gets virtually rip by the presence of one or two rip currents in the sea. However that hardly affects in its immense beauty. This beach has more rescues per thousand swimmers compared to the rest of the beaches of Sydney. This fact makes this patrolled beach the most dangerous of all. A 12 to 15 foot wave is formed by an offshore rock shelf when the swell rolls in. When this happens, a lot of photographers, onlookers and dedicated boat riders come to experience the great sight. This beach is situated between two spectacular headlands bordered by attractive picnic areas and parkland and backed by a valley full of sand. This beach is quite deceptive regarding its size and it is extremely narrow as well. Situated on the north side and placed on the headland, the distinguishable Tamarana Surf Club overlooks the entire beach.
