Baramulla is a city located in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. In the previous times, this place was known by the name of 'Varahamulla' i.e. boar's molar. This city was founded by Raja Bhimsina in 2306 BC and the land of Baramulla has been visited by great leaders in the past like Guru Nanak Dev, Xuan Zang, Emperor Akbar, Jahangir, and others.
Located in the foothills of the snow-capped Himalayas, Baramulla spreads across 3,300 sq. km. of land. Its land is fed by the waters of the river Jhelum. It is surrounded by Kupwara in North, Poonch in South, Azad Kashmir in West and Srinagar in East. Baramulla has a tropical cool climate. Amid the year, it encounters a cool weather and the median temperatures scale between below 0°C-22°C. It receives a substantial amount of rainfall with an annual average of 2000 mm.
