Bhootnath Temple, Mandi Overview

Enshrining the Lord of lords, no crutches of introduction are required for Bhootnath Temple. It is a famous Hindu temple in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Its name literally translates to the 'Lord of the Ghosts'. The word 'Bhoot' translates to ghost. Bhootnath Temple attracts numerous pilgrims from different parts of country.

It Is Known For:-
1)    Bhootnath Temple is an ancient temple that was constructed during the rule of Raja Ajber Sen, a ruler of Mandi. He dreamt of a cow whose udders were showering milk at a particular spot in the woods.

2)    The next day, he went to the site and discovered a Shivalinga after hours of digging. A temple was built in the honor of Lord Shiva and the Shivalinga was installed in the sanctum of the temple.

3)    Bhootnath Temple is an enticing edifice and is built in the Hindu style of architecture. It is exquisitely carved in a serpentine manner and houses the idol of Nandi Bull in the courtyard.

4)    The other Hindu religious figurines like Lord Vishnu, Goddess Durga, Lord Hanuman etc. can be seen inside.

Bhootnath Temple welcomes the visitors on a huge scale. Mondays are thronged on a huge scale as it is an auspicious day for the followers of Lord Shiva in Hinduism.

Watch Out!
Maha Shivaratri is a sacred festival that is celebrated here with a great pomp. The whole temple is bedecked exquisitely and is flooded by the devotees from early hours. Aarti of the Shivalinga is done twice a day and devotees do the abhisheka of the Shivalinga with the Panchamrit. Thus, make sure that you are present on this sacred day in Bhootnath Temple.
