 Hubli is a renowned industrial city of the district of Dharwad, Karnataka. Hubli forms a part of the famous twin cities of Dharwad-Hubli. Hubli is well-known for its various handloom textile units along with various cotton processing & ginning mills.
Earlier, Hubli was known by two different names i.e. Raya Hubli and Elaya Puravada Halli. During the reign of Vijaynagara Empire, the town of Hubli developed in to a major iron and cotton trade center. History:
The historic town of Hubli was formerly known as Raya Hubli and also as Elaya Puravada Halli. It was during the reign of the Vijaynagara Empire that Hubli transformed into an important cotton and iron trade center.
