Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Paro – Jela Dzong (approx. 8 Km / 4–5 Hrs / 1,090 M Ascent)

    The trek starts from Ta Dzong (National Museum) above Paro.
    The trail climbs steadily through blue pine forests and mixed vegetation.
    Enjoy stunning views of Paro Valley below.
    Camp near Jela Dzong (3,450m), a small monastery on the ridge, offering panoramic views of Paro and Mt. Jomolhari on clear days.
    Overnight: Camp near Jela Dzong (Altitude: 3,450m)

  • Day 2

    Jela Dzong – Jangchulakha (approx. 10 Km / 4 Hrs / 310 M Ascent)

    The trail passes through alpine forests and open ridges.
    You may spot yak herders and their camps.
    On clear days, spectacular views of the Himalayan range can be seen.
    Camp at Jangchulakha (3,780m), a meadow area surrounded by dwarf rhododendron shrubs.
    Overnight: Camp at Jangchulakha (Altitude: 3,780m)

  • Day 3

    Jangchulakha – Jimilangtsho (approx. 11 Km / 4–5 Hrs / 330 M Ascent, 120 M Descent)

    The trail follows the ridge and gradually climbs up to Jimilangtsho Lake (3,880m).
    The lake is known for its large trout and stunning reflections of the surrounding hills.
    On a clear day, you can see Mt. Jichu Drake, the guardian deity of Paro.
    Overnight: Camp by Jimilangtsho Lake (Altitude: 3,880m)

  • Day 4

    Jimilangtsho – Simkotra Tsho (approx. 11 Km / 4 Hrs / 200 M Ascent, 150 M Descent)

    The trail passes several smaller lakes and yak herders’ camps.
    The route is mostly through rhododendron forests and rocky terrain.
    Camp near Simkotra Tsho (4,110m), a serene high-altitude lake.
    Overnight: Camp near Simkotra Tsho (Altitude: 4,110m)

  • Day 5

    Simkotra Tsho – Phajoding (approx. 10 Km / 4–5 Hrs / 130 M Ascent, 680 M Descent)

    Begin with a gradual climb to a pass (4,210m) — the highest point of the trek.
    On clear days, you can see Mt. Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest peak.
    Then descend through juniper forests to Phajoding Monastery (3,750m), overlooking Thimphu Valley.
    Overnight: Camp near Phajoding Monastery (Altitude: 3,750m)

  • Day 6

    Phajoding – Thimphu (approx. 5 Km / 2–3 Hrs / 1,130 M Descent)

    The final day is an easy downhill walk through blue pine forests.
    Reach Motithang, just above Thimphu city.
    Transfer to hotel, rest, and enjoy leisure time in Thimphu.

  • All land transportation by Coaster/Hiace/SUV within Bhutan as per the itinerary and group size.
  • Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of Rs. 1,200.00 per traveler per night for adult & Rs. 600.00 per traveler per night for children aged 6 to 12 at the time of travel receive a 50% concessionary discount on their SDF. Those children who have not yet turned six are exempt from paying any SDF. This goes towards free education, free healthcare, poverty alleviation, tourism infrastructure development and to maintain carbon negative country for all times to come.
  • Free SIM card (one each for couple) – 2GB data, talk time/SMS for BTN 100. Validity for 14 days.
  • All local taxes including Bhutan Sales Tax (BST) and Service Charges.

  • Tips paid to guides and drivers by the tourists at their own wills.
  • Expenses of personal nature including laundry and additional communication expense.

TOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • PAYMENT
  • Payment Method: All payments should be made directly to Bhutan Travel Experts upon production of Invoice.
  • Reservation Deposit: To confirm your booking, guests are required to pay 55% or more of the total tour cost at the time of reservation.
  • Balance Payment: The remaining amount must be settled in cash on the first or second day of arrival in Bhutan.
  • INSURANCE
  • There is no personal insurance of any kind included in the tour price. So, you are advised to arrange travel insurance from your place of residence in advance for your stay in Bhutan. Whilst the country has a good standard of medical and hospital facilities, it does not offer the facilities that only a larger population can support.
  • Bhutan Travel Experts is, therefore, not responsible for any loss, injury, illness or death sustained during your trip.

DO’S AND DONT’S BY THE GUESTS

  • Dress Code
  • There are no rules about what visitors should wear. However, if you are planning to visit places of religious significance, respectful smart-casual clothing that covers your body from shoulders to knees is appropriate and appreciated.
  • Things that can’t be taken out of Bhutan
  • Keeping important antiques and artefacts in Bhutan is a key part of how we preserve our heritage for future generations. We have a law that sets out which artistic, historic, cultural, religious, social, archaeological and technical objects you may not take with you when you leave. To ensure any items you acquire comply with the law, you will need an Export Permit for Non-Antique Artefacts. Find out more about the permit and how to apply for one here.
  • Drone
  • A permit, which must be applied for in advance, is required to fly a drone either recreationally or commercially in Bhutan. Please email media@tcb.gov.bt to obtain one.
  • Currency Exchange
  • You can change your local currency for ngultrum upon arrival at Paro International Airport or at banks, larger hotels and authorized currency exchange businesses in Thimphu.
  • Credit card / ATM Card / RuPay card
  • ATM and banks accept Visa and MasterCard. International credit cards are widely used in urban areas of Bhutan. However, this service may not be available in other parts of the country. Visitors can download the digital wallet app goBoB launched by the Bank of Bhutan, which can be used with a local SIM card and is widely accepted throughout the country.
  • Cash in US dollars and Indian rupees is also widely accepted. We advise bringing some cash in either of these currencies, or in ngultrum.
  • For Indian tourists, use of RuPay card will be cheaper, secure and convenient.
  • Travel Etiquette
  • Bhutan is the last Vajrayana Buddhist country in the world and it contains many revered religious sites – from roadside stupas to temples, monasteries and nunneries.
  • Please maintain silence to respect our people’s faith when visiting any sacred site.
  • Please be mindful if you want to photograph those praying or participating in one of our many holy festivals. Ensure you do not stand between religious observers and an altar or otherwise obstruct our people’s right to practice their faith in peace.
  • As a sign of respect, please remove caps and hats when visiting sacred sites or meeting elders. If seated on the floor with a monk, nun, elder or host, it’s advisable to sit cross-legged.
  • When visiting a temple, please wear long sleeves and cover your legs. Remove your shoes upon entering and refrain from taking photos inside sacred sites. Please do not sit on the lamas’ sacred thrones inside temples,

Cancellation & Refund Policy :

Any cancellations must be received in writing via email to T8 Untrodden Travels. Refunds are processed within days after we receive details of your cancellation. The following charges will apply:
Before 60 days: Full refund and no cancellation charges.
Within 45 days: 10% of the total tour cost
Within 30 days: 15% of the total tour cost
Within 15 days: 30% of the total tour cost
Less than 15 days: 50% of the total tour cost
After arrival in Bhutan: 100% of the total tour cost
