Built in the 13th century, Taragarh Fort is a historical monument in Ajmer. It was erected under the Mughal rule in the Rajasthani style of architecture. This huge fort stands on a hillock of the Aravalli Ranges and overlooks the entire Taragarh. The first rulers that sat on the ruling throne were the Chauhans but were soon defeated by the Mughals. For a prolonged period of time, Taragarh Fort was known as the property of Mughals until the Rajputs defeated them. Today, it is one of the major sightseeing places in Ajmer.

1) Taragarh Fort is renowned for its construction and architecture. It has various secret passages and tunnels that were used by the armies to attack the enemy
2) Since Taragarh Fort's geographical location wasn't feasible to draw water, the artificial water reservoirs were built to fulfill the water requirements of the fort
3) There are different palaces built inside that were the residences of the royal family members. Rani Mahal is the only existing palace that served as the home for the royal queens. Today, it is in a semi-ruined condition
4) The fort also has the grave of Miran Saheb. He was the governor of the fort who dies while protecting it from foreign powers.
