Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary is a well-known travel attraction in Chhattisgarh. It lies in Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh state and was established in the year 1975. This wildlife sanctuary became a Tiger Reserve in 2009 under the Project Tiger. Presently, it is a part of the renowned Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve.

Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary covers a huge region of the grasslands of Chhattisgarh. It serves as a home to a vast variety of the wild animals. Tigers, bison, hare, deer, elephant etc. are some animals that are found here. The birds like the hawk and woodpeckers are also spotted in this sanctuary.
Amarkantak, the source of Narmada River is located near it. Different migratory birds like the stork and crane are spotted here in the winter months.
