Kanan Pendari Zoo

Kanan Pendari Zoo is a famous tourist destination in Chhattisgarh. It lies in Bilaspur and was established in the early 1970s. In the year 1975, it was used as a nursery for the plants but was developed and transformed into a zoo in the year 1997. At present, the Forest Department of Bilaspur manages this zoo and it is a must-see destination for the ones visiting this place for the first time.

Kanan Pendari Zoo is more than a zoo. It is a home to the animals like the panther, bear, tiger, deer, elephant, rabbit, monkey, and a variety of birds, reptiles, and marine creatures etc. Visitors not only get to see the animals and birds but, they also get a chance to gain some knowledge about their food habits and lifestyle as well.

There are different beats divided in the zoo: Carnivores, Herbivores, Omnivores, Avian, Reptiles, and Marine. Visitors spend long hours observing the different animals, birds, and other creatures. A veterinary section has been set up by the zoo authorities to look after the ill and injured wild animals.

Kanan Pendari Zoo is a famous attraction, especially for kids. Tourists visit this zoo throughout the year. Yet, the best time is considered between October-February. It is the apt season as the weather is pleasant enough for exploring the zoo.

All visitors must follow the rules and regulations of the zoo. No one is allowed to feed the wild animals or tease them in any manner. Such acts are a punishable offense.
