  • Day 1

    Paro Stay

    Meet our guide and driver at Paro International Airport.
    Visit Paro National Museum. It holds fascinating collections of art, relics, religious Thangka paintings and Bhutan’s exquisite postage stamps).
    Lunch at Paro.
    Visit to Paro Dzong.
    Stroll around Paro.
    Dinner and overnight stay at Paro Hotel.

    Paro Stay

    Breakfast at Hotel.
    Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery – (It is the most important and religious significance to Bhutanese people as well as to Buddhism world. It is the most visited and photographed of all the monuments in Bhutan)
    Visit to Kyichu Lhakhang (It is one of the two most sacred and the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in 7th century by Tibetan king SongtsenGampo)
    Leisure at Town

  • Day 3

    Paro - Shana Thangthangka (jhomolari Trek Starts)

    Breakfast at Hotel.
    At around 630 am to 7 am, we will start our journey to Sharna Zampa, where our trekking staff will be waiting for us.
    At Gunitsawa Army post, our Army permit will be checked and endorsed.
    We will have lunch at Sharna Zampa, where our trekking cook will prepare for us.
    After lunch, we will start our trek. Today’s trek will be a long day trek with lots of small ups and downs.
    After going uphill through the river valley, which finally narrows, gradually to a mere path, which descends to a meadow where a camp will be set up. From here, if weather permits, we will have the first great view of Mt. Jomolhari.
    Accommodation: Camping, Altitude: 3610m. Distance: 22km. Time: 7-8hrs

  • Day 4

    Thangthangka - Jangothang

    Breakfast at camp.
    Today’s trek continues up the ParoChhu, which widens into patches of alpine meadow and scanty growths of forest.
    We will cross an army checkpoint along the way and enjoy a spectacular view of high mountain ridges and snow-capped peaks. In this area yaks and their herder’s homes become a regular feature of the landscape.
    Passing the villages Soe, Takethang and Dangochang is another asset on this day.
    After reaching Jangothang, one of the most beautiful campsites of the Himalayas, we will have a spectacular view of Mount Jomolhari.
    Accommodation: Camping, Altitude: 4080m. Distance: 19km. Time: 5-6 hrs.

    Jangothang Stay

    Breakfast at Camp.
    Enjoy the Jhomolhari Mountain Festival.
    Dinner and over night stay at Jangothang.

  • Day 6

    Jangothang Stay

    Breakfast at camp.
    Enjoy with the 2nd of the Festival. or
    We will have a day rest here. It provides plenty of possibilities for day hikes with great views of lakes and snowcapped mountains such as Jomolhari and Jichu Drake.
    There are good chances to spot some blue sheep on the upper slopes of the valley.
    Jangothang is a perfect environment for your acclimatization. We will trek up to Tshophu Lake.
    Dinner and overnight stay at Jangothang.

  • Day 7

    Jangothang - Lingshi

    Breakfast at Camp.
    A good day’s walk today with great views of the Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake and the Tserim Gang. We have to cross the Nyelela pass (4,700-m).
    We pass by the picturesque of Lingshi village and our first views of the truly mystical LingshiDzong atop a high hill.
    Overnight camp at Lingshi.
    Accommodation: Camping, Camp Site: Lingshi, Altitude: 4150m. Distance: 19 km Time: 6 – 7 hours

  • Day 8

    Lingshi - Shodu

    Breakfast at camp.
    The trail climbs up to the Yelila pass at an altitude of 4,930m.
    From the pass, on a clear day we will get an excellent view of Jumolhari, Tserimgang and Masanggang.
    The trek from the pass to the campsite at Shodu is a steep downhill.
    Overnight camp at Shodu.
    Accommodation: Camping, Altitude: 4080m. Distance: 22km. Time: 8-9hrs.

  • Day 9

    Shodu - Domshisa

    Breakfast at Camp.
    Today’s trail follows the ThimphuChhu through rhododendron forests, beautiful waterfalls along the way.
    The valley narrows till the path takes to the slopes and gradually ascends to the ruins of Barshong Dzong.
    Overnight camp at Domshisa.
    Accommodation: Camping, Altitude: 3710m. Distance: 16km. Time: 5-6hrs.

  • Day 10

    Domshisa - Dolamkencho - Thimphu

    Breakfast at camp.
    Trek will Dolamkencho.
    Our driver and car will wait here at DomlamKencho.
    Lunch at DolamKencho.
    Bid farewell to our trekking crewmembers.
    Drive to Thimphu.
    Stroll around Thimphu town.
    Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu hotel.

    Stay At Thimphu

    Breakfast at Hotel.
    Visit to Post Office and make the personalized stamps.
    Visit DrupthopDewachen Nunnery (The ThangtongDewachen nunnery was founded in 1976 by RikeyJadrel, who is considered an emanation of ThangtongGyalpo).
    Visit Takin Mini-zoo (To see the National Animal of Bhutan, Takin).
    Lunch at Town.
    Visit Paper Factory (to see traditional methods to produce the authentic Bhutanese paper known as Deh-sho).
    Craft Bazar (A spectacle of traditional bamboo huts, aligned neatly below Norzin Lam, opposite to Nehru Wangchuk Cultural Centre, showcase wide range of authentic Bhutan-made art and craft products).
    Stroll around Town.

    Thimphu - Paro International Airport

    Breakfast at Hotel.
    Drive to Airport.
    Flight for onward destinations.

    This tour is going to be exciting and worth remembering, offers you kaleidoscope of profound sceneries, natural wonders, some of Bhutan’s most revered pilgrimage sites and valuable heritages, jaw dropping landscapes and experience so much than you expected. Jhomolhari Trek is the most challenging and daring adventures to face with, which is highlight in this tours. It introduces trekkers to many mysterious places, breathtaking locations, ancient ruins and some of the highest unclimbed mountains in Bhutan.
    The trek extends up to western parts of Paro and Thimphu. The trek commences at 2,580m from Drugyal Dzong at Paro continues to Thangthandkha till Jangothang (Jomolhari Base camp) which is the highlight of this tour with the excellent view of Jomolhari peak. Our gradual climb follows the trail passing meadows, paddy field, lush evergreen forest, and farmhouses, yaks and yak herds. We will also spot Blue sheep and Takin lively grazing on the slopes. The remaining days, after successful completion of Jhomolhari trek, you will have an ample chance for day’s excursion tomany amazing places and sightseeing. You will get full leisure to Capture and recreate authenticity of its beauty and melt yourself in it.
    Jomolhari Mountain Festival is an exquisitely themed two-day event celebrated at the base of Mt. Jomolhari, by communities located along one of the most scenic trekking routes in Bhutan. The festival celebrates the culture of the communities living together with the natural wonders that surround them: one in particular, the elusive, yet elegant, snow leopard! This endangered cat thrives in the region; several camera trap photos and definite signs have established the region as one of the best snow leopard habitats in Bhutan.

Those children who have not yet turned six are exempt from paying any SDF. This goes towards free education, free healthcare, poverty alleviation, tourism infrastructure development and to maintain carbon negative country for all times to come.

  • PAYMENT
  • Payment Method: All payments should be made directly to Bhutan Travel Experts upon production of Invoice.
  • Reservation Deposit: To confirm your booking, guests are required to pay 55% or more of the total tour cost at the time of reservation.
  • Balance Payment: The remaining amount must be settled in cash on the first or second day of arrival in Bhutan.
  • INSURANCE
  • There is no personal insurance of any kind included in the tour price. So, you are advised to arrange travel insurance from your place of residence in advance for your stay in Bhutan. Whilst the country has a good standard of medical and hospital facilities, it does not offer the facilities that only a larger population can support.
  • Bhutan Travel Experts is, therefore, not responsible for any loss, injury, illness or death sustained during your trip.

DO’S AND DONT’S BY THE GUESTS

  • Dress Code
  • There are no rules about what visitors should wear. However, if you are planning to visit places of religious significance, respectful smart-casual clothing that covers your body from shoulders to knees is appropriate and appreciated.
  • Things that can’t be taken out of Bhutan
  • Keeping important antiques and artefacts in Bhutan is a key part of how we preserve our heritage for future generations. We have a law that sets out which artistic, historic, cultural, religious, social, archaeological and technical objects you may not take with you when you leave. To ensure any items you acquire comply with the law, you will need an Export Permit for Non-Antique Artefacts. Find out more about the permit and how to apply for one here.
  • Drone
  • A permit, which must be applied for in advance, is required to fly a drone either recreationally or commercially in Bhutan. Please email media@tcb.gov.bt to obtain one.
  • Currency Exchange
  • You can change your local currency for ngultrum upon arrival at Paro International Airport or at banks, larger hotels and authorized currency exchange businesses in Thimphu.
  • Credit card / ATM Card / RuPay card
  • ATM and banks accept Visa and MasterCard. International credit cards are widely used in urban areas of Bhutan. However, this service may not be available in other parts of the country. Visitors can download the digital wallet app goBoB launched by the Bank of Bhutan, which can be used with a local SIM card and is widely accepted throughout the country.
  • Cash in US dollars and Indian rupees is also widely accepted. We advise bringing some cash in either of these currencies, or in ngultrum.
  • For Indian tourists, use of RuPay card will be cheaper, secure and convenient.
  • Travel Etiquette
  • Bhutan is the last Vajrayana Buddhist country in the world and it contains many revered religious sites – from roadside stupas to temples, monasteries and nunneries.
  • Please maintain silence to respect our people’s faith when visiting any sacred site.
  • Please be mindful if you want to photograph those praying or participating in one of our many holy festivals. Ensure you do not stand between religious observers and an altar or otherwise obstruct our people’s right to practice their faith in peace.
  • As a sign of respect, please remove caps and hats when visiting sacred sites or meeting elders. If seated on the floor with a monk, nun, elder or host, it’s advisable to sit cross-legged.
  • When visiting a temple, please wear long sleeves and cover your legs. Remove your shoes upon entering and refrain from taking photos inside sacred sites. Please do not sit on the lamas’ sacred thrones inside temples, or touch any religious items or paintings.
