This circuit was once considered one of the best treks in the world though road construction is threatening its reputation and its future as a classic trek. Yet no one disputes that the scenery is outstanding. The magnificent mountain scenery seen at close view of annapurna, 8091m and Dhaulagiri 8167m considered by many of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Accessibility
Drive to Besisahar to trailhead from Kathmandu or Pokhara, start the trek according to the itinerary, after Thorong La pass from Jomsom fly back or trek to Pokhara.

The Route
Max. Altitude 5416 m. Thorong -La pass 5-6 hr. average walking per day, trek start after breakfast everyday, strenuous trail, walking via pass is 9-10 hr.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Kathamndu

    Arrival in Kathamndu airport and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2 : Drive from Kathmandu

    Drive from Kathmandu at 7 O’clock to trailhead Besisahar and trek Bhulbhule (840m) over Thorunglanight at teahouse, it takes around 6 to 7 hours and Lunch break on the way.

  • Day 3 : Bhulbhule (840m) to Ghyarmuphant

    Bhulbhule (840m) to Ghyarmuphant. We start our trek from Bhulbhule at 7.30 AM the trail crosses the Marsyangdi on along suspension bridge and continues up to east bank of the river. From here there are good views of Mansalu (8156m) to the northeast. The trail then leads up through the villages of Ngadi and Lamphata before reaching Bahundada (1310m). From Bahundada the trail drops to eventually cross a stream and then climbs to the settlement of Lili Bhir. The trail continues high above the river eventually dropping to cross the western side of the Marsyangdi at Ghyarmuphant 1100 m where we over night at teahouse.

  • Day 4 : Ghyarmuphant to Chamje (1430m)

    Ghyarmuphant to Chamje (1430m). We serve breakfast at 7 am after breakfast we start Trek from Ghyarmuphant via Syange the trail becomes steep in parts, reaching the ancient village at Jagat at 1250m. From Jagat the trail ancient to the Marsyangdi,and follows the riverbank before climbing up through forests to Chamje at 1430m.

  • Day 5 : Chamje (1430m) - Dharapani (1920m)

    Chamje (1430m) - Dharapani (1920m). The trail continues northwards before eventually turning to the northwest as it follows the Marsyangdi. The trail initially crosses the river to the east bank and climbs up to the large settlement of Tal (1700m), we’ll have lunch short break there after continue our trek towards Dharapani. The trail crosses and then re-crosses the river as it makes it’s way to a Karte, and finally crosses again to the west bank before continuing through the village of Dharapani at 1920m.

  • Day 6 : Dharapani (1920m) to Chame (2630m)

    Dharapani (1920m) to Chame (2630m). After breakfast we start trek from Dharapani the trail continues in general westwards direction up the Manang valley, following the Marsyangdi river via Bagarchhhap at 2160m.This was the scene of a landslide in November 1995 that destroyed much of the village, however it is steadily being rebuilt. Throughout today we obtain views of Annapurna II 7937m) and Annapurna IV to the west. Initially the trails climbs through forests to Danagyeu at 2290m, and continues steadily to the settlement of Latamarang at 2360m.The track then climbs over several forested ridges to reach the village of Koto at 2590m,and from here it is an easy half-hour walk to Chame at 2630m,the administrative headquarters for the Manang district and over night at teahouse lodge.

  • Day 7 : Chame (2630m) to Pisang (3200m)

    Chame (2630m) to Pisang (3200m). After breakfast we start trek from Chame we cross to the northern side of the river and trek west on and easy trail to the village of Bharatang at 2840.From here the valley is steep and narrow and leads through dense forest. The trail eventually crosses back to the south side of the river on a suspension bridge at 2040 m and then continues on to our destination for the evening, the large village of Pisang at 3200m where we over night at teahouse. There is two villages in Pisang upper Pisang and Lower Pisang we’ll visit upper Pisang same day afternoon which is most popular monastery village of around.

  • Day 8 : Pisang (3200m) to Manang (3500m)

    Pisang (3200m) to Manang (3500m). After breakfast we start trek from Pisang. The trail continues on the south side of the river and makes a long climb over a ridge to reach approx.3400m.It then descends to the valley floor and continues on Hongde at 3325m where there is an airstrip and police check post. The feature of the village is a long mani wall. The trail crosses to the north bank of the river near Mungji and continues on to the stunning Tibetan-style village of Braga at 3475m,where there is an ancient gompa. From here it is only a short walk to Manang at 3540m.Manang is a very large and important village where we over night.

  • Day 9 : Acclimatization day in Manag

    Acclimatization day in Manag. This is an acclimatization day that will allow us to become adjusted to the thinning air and lessening pressure as we continue upwards towards the Torung La. It is often useful to make use of this day by taking a gentle excursion to a number of the interesting areas near to Manang-monastery of Manang, Milarepa cave, and Gangapurna glacier Lake including Braga Monastery.
    However it is also useful to rest up and relax before we trek higher Manang.

  • Day 10 : Manang (3500m) to Yak Kharka (4090m)

    Manang (3500m) to Yak Kharka (4090m). After breakfast we start trek from Manang whilst it is possible to reach Thorung Phedi in one day from Manang we split the journey in two in order to aid acclimatization. From Manang we trek slowly up to Tengi at 3620 m and continue steadily upwards to Gunsang at 3939m.The trail is now distinctly alpine in appearance, the vegetation consisting of scrub juniper and alpine grasses. The views on route across to the immense peaks of Gangapurna (74754m) and Annapurna III (7555m) are fantastic, as we continue up to Yak Kharka at 4018m and stay at teahouse there.

  • Day 11 : Yak Kharka (4090m) to Thorng Phedi (4450m)

    Yak Kharka (4090m) to Thorng Phedi (4450m). After breakfast we start trek from Yak Kharka from where we continue very slowly upwards reaching the small settlement of Ledar, at 4250m, after about one hour the trail then continues to climb along the east bank of Jarsanga Khola, making it’s way steadily up to Thorung Phedi, a small collection of lodges, at 4450m. This is our last stop before crossing the Thrung La – ‘Phedi’ means ‘foot of the hill’ and indeed this is the starting point for the long trek up to the pass at 5416m. This is another short day, and allows us to rest and relax before ascending to the pass tomorrow,

  • Day 12 : Via Thorong La pass (5416m) to Muktinath (3800m)

    Via Thorong La pass (5416m) to Muktinath (3800m). We set off early, at about 4.30 AM, and begin the long climb up to the Thorung La (‘la’ means ‘pass’) 1000m above us. We trek slowly and steadily and aim to reach the pass in 3 to 4 hours from Phedi, although it can take less or more depending upon fitness and acclimatization. The trail has been use for centuries by local people and is well defined in the trekking seasons. Upon reaching the pass we see the traditional chorten, prayer flags, and cairn, and other trekkers resting before the descent to Muktinath 1600m below. The views from the pass can only be described as breathtaking, and taken in a panorama Himalayan giants, as well as providing our first view of the immense Kali Gandaki valley to the west. The reduction in altitude becomes obvious as soon as we leave the Thorung La and it is amazing how much difference this makes in only a few hundred meters. As we descend, we obtain great views of Dhaulagiri to the southwest, and Tukuche peak 6920m. The descent is long and tiring but not difficult and we soon find ourselves down in Muktinath and Ranupauwa,

  • Day 13 : Muktinath to Kagbeni (2800m)

    Muktinath to Kagbeni (2800m). Early morning visit Muktinath temple which is consideredJharkot as Nirvana place or salvation center for Buddhist and Hindu people where Lode Shiva had salvation. Next to the Muktinath temple there is another temple, which is known as Goddess of fire. After breakfast trek start from Muktinath to Kagbeni, The trill descends very quickly to the valley floor of Kali Gandaki River. The descends is through a dramatic arid landscape and continues to Kagbeni and over night (2800m). Afternoon sightseeing around Kagbeni-visit Kagbeni monastery, local cultural activities and traditional farming housing are the main attractions.

  • Day 14 : Kagbeni (2800m) to Marpha (2670m)

    after breakfast trek start from Kagbeni (2800m) to Marpha (2670m)
    The trail goes through the Kali Gandaki River bank. On the way will pass via District head quarter of Mustang Jomsom, in there natural historical museum and monastery together.This museum has huge collection of Tran Himalayan biodiversity evidences. Finally our teahouse camp will be at Marpha village, this village is very famous for apple farming of around. Marpha monastery and end of the village Tibetan monastery and refugee camp are worth to visit. You will have chance to test apple, apricot, carrot brandy of local area product.

  • Day 15 : Marpha (2670m) to Ghasa (2010m)

    Marpha (2670m) to Ghasa (2010m)-The trail goes through Kali Gandaki valley continuously first village we will cross Tukuche then Larjung and Kalopani. Most of villages have also small monastery, our guide will take you to visit them and will explain interesting features of Buddhism in detail. This day we will also cross the Tran Himalayan section of the whole trekking before Kalopani near by Kokethanti after that we will be again in mid hill region which is known as Mahabharat range respectively.

  • Day 16 : Ghasa (2010m) to Tatopani (1190m)

    Ghasa (2010m) to Tatopani (1190m)- After breakfast again our journey will be continue via deepest gorge of Kali Gandaki valley. We will have short lunch break at Dana village and will stop for the night at Hot spring (Tatopani). It has beautiful natural Hot Spring Bath Tub.

  • Day 17 : Tatopani (1190m) to Ghorepani (2800m)

    Tatopani (1190m) to Ghorepani (2800m)- We will have climb up again after Tatopani to Ghorepani. On the way we will stop for the lunch break at Shikha,It is mid hill cultural village in habited by both Hindu and Buddhist people.

  • Day 18 : Ghorepani (2800m) to Tikhedhunga (1540m)

    Ghorepani (2800m) to Tikhedhunga (1540m)- This day early in the morning at 5 o’clock Climb up to Poon hill top to view entire Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri range and sun rise. Ghorepani region is famous for rhododendron flower in the world and of course the best mountain views. After that we will slowly come back to teahouse and have a breakfast then pack the gear and start the trek down hill to Tikhedhunga.

  • Day 19 : Tikhedhunga (1540m) to Nayapul (1070m)

    Tikhedhunga (1540m) to Nayapul (1070m) – after breakfast we’ll trek down to Nayapul via Birethanti where you will have lunch & drive back to Pokhara.

  • Day 20 : Kathmandu

    After breakfast fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

  • Day 21 : Departure

    International departure.
