Guests will leave the Lodge / Hotel in Karatu Town or Ngorongoro Highlands after breakfast at around 9:00AM or depends on guests request. After an 1 hour or 45 minutes drive to Mto wa Mbu Village, your driver/guide will introduce local guide with visitors. Before the Tour begins a local guide will give a short brief of the tour/ village. Tours last around 2–3 hours, but are flexible. During your visit you’ll get a good feel for the social side of the village – Get an inside look at the homes and exquisite crafts of Mto wa Mbu’s many tribes. Visitors will get a chance to meet locals and learn about banana beer, Makonde wood carvings, and the tribe painting techniques, Kisu and Tingatinga. A stroll through the village provides a great introduction to everyday life in Africa. At 6:30 Lunch break and easy conversation or Your guide will happily answer any questions you might have, after an hour break, visitors will continue with rest of tour within the village or return to the hotel for leisure MAASAI MARKET TOUR Hundreds of Maasai gather each Thursday at the bustling Maasai market where visitors have the chance to see their crafts and taste their foods, including the famous BBQ. A larger, village-wide market occurs on the 22nd of each month. Our guide will even help you bargain. FARM TOUR A guided farm tour will give visitors the opportunity to see the innovative farming practices of Mto wa Mbu villagers and learn about the irrigation system that sustains local crops including 32 varieties of bananas.
