The first irrigation project after the independence was initiated at Bhavanisagar Dam. A reckoned attraction in Tamil Nadu, Bhavanisagar Dam has the reservoir with the capacity of holding 33 million cubic meters of the water. The state government regularly renovates the gates of this dam.
