This 5-day 4-night Mount Kenya trek combines the Sirimon Route for the ascent with the scenic Chogoria Route for the descent passing through mountain forests heather and moorland zones alpine landscapes high-altitude tarns dramatic valleys and waterfalls. The route offers an excellent opportunity to experience the contrasting landscapes on both sides of the mountain while gradually gaining altitude toward Point Lenana (4,985m). The summit attempt is timed early on Day 3 for sunrise before descending along the Chogoria side. Arrival meeting point is Nanyuki at the Mohakin travel office and there is no airport pickup included. All mountain equipment hiking gear food camping supplies porters cook and guide services should be arranged and ready before entering the park. Accommodation before or after the trek cannot be arranged by this operator.
Depart from the Mohakin travel office in Nanyuki around noon after a final gear check then drive approximately 40 minutes to Sirimon Gate (2,650m). Hot lunch at the gate followed by park registration and entry formalities. Trek about 9.4 km over 3-4 hours from mountain forest into the heather zone with wildlife sightings possible including waterbuck zebra and occasionally elephant. Arrive camp in time for 16:00 tea coffee and hot drinks. Sundowner followed by dinner and overnight at Old Moses / Judmiers Camp. Accommodation is mountain camping in 4-season tents located in the mountain forest to heather zone. Meals for the day include lunch and dinner with drinking water included.

Wake early with a morning routine starting at 06:30 breakfast at 07:00 and a trek start by 08:00. Hike through the heather zone at a steady manageable pace with a lunch break at the Likii North river picnic point. Continue as vegetation thins and terrain becomes more rugged arriving at Shipton's Camp (4,200m) in the afternoon for 16:00 tea coffee and hot drinks. A short walk around camp and an early dinner prepare the group for the summit attempt planned for the following day. Accommodation is mountain camping in 4-season tents in the heather to alpine zone with all meals included.

Very early start waking at 02:00 for a light breakfast and beginning the summit ascent at 02:30. Reach Point Lenana (4,985m) between 06:00 and 06:30 to view sunrise. Descend about 1 km to Upper Simba Tarn (4,500m) for a full breakfast and short rest then continue approximately 4 km to Lake Michaelson (4,000m) for hot lunch. Spend free time at the lake with options for a walk along the shores photography or trout fishing depending on conditions. The day ends with a relaxing bonfire dinner and overnight at Lake Michaelson Camp in alpine cold desert zone. All meals for the day are included. Optional angling activity is available subject to conditions.

Breakfast at 07:00 then begin a long descent of about 10 km toward the roadhead with a hot lunch break at the roadhead. Continue the trek passing Nithi Waterfalls covering another 7 km to reach Meru Mount Kenya Camp arriving around 16:00. On arrival enjoy 16:00 tea coffee and hot drinks followed by dinner and overnight at the camp. Accommodation is mountain camping in 4-season tents across alpine moorland to heather zones and all meals are included.

Breakfast at 07:00 then the final descent through mountain forest toward the clearing point at approximately 2,500m taking about three hours. Board waiting transport at the clearing point for a 22 km drive to the park exit complete park exit formalities then continue by road to Chogoria town marking the end of the trek. No accommodation is provided as part of the package after the trek. Meals for the day include breakfast and lunch while drinking water is not included.
