Following the information, there is some free time for photos before we move to next destination.
11:00
Kaymakli Underground City
Next destination is Kaymakli Underground City built by the Christians to escape persecution. Kaymakli is the widest underground city in Cappadocia region. It is divided into 8 different levels, 4 of which you can explore, including its fascinating network of wineries, kitchens, ventilation shafts, storage rooms, bedrooms and meeting rooms all in a labyrinth structure.
13:00
Lunch & Pegion Valley
After the underground city, it is time for lunch with open buffet and beautiful view on the outskirts of Goreme. We will also stop and take in the views down to Pigeon Valley, so called from the ancient pigeon houses carved into the cliff faces over centuries. Farmers throughout the region once farmed pigeon manure as a rich source of fertiliser for their crops.
14:30
Red Valley & Rose Valley
Enjoy a scenic walk in Red & Rose Valley, the two valleys are next to each other. It has beautiful rock formations with some great hidden rock carved churches. The most interesting part of this area is the countless tracks connecting the small villages and towns through vineyards and gardens like a spider net.
15:30
Meskendir Valley
We continue trekking to Meskendir Valley through its magnificent landscape. The valley contains the famous Meskendir Church. We will explore its interior, beautifully adorned in geometric red embellishments and witness the Chapel ceiling which has been engraved with a large cross.
16:30
Cavusin Valley
We will then explore Cavusin Village, one of the oldest villages in the region and known for its cave houses which are a labyrinth of ruins chiselled into the rock face. The village is also home to the Church of John the Baptist which dates back to the 5th Century and is the biggest cave church in all of Cappadocia. Your tour will finish around 17:30 and you will be dropped back to your hotel.
