Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Kathmandu

    We meet in Kathmandu on the evening of day one at our hotel if people require transfers from the airport one of our representatives will meet you and transfer. An evening meal in a traditional Nepalese restaurant is arranged for the group, a chance to get to know each other. The next day we begin early with a visit to the Monkey Temple (Swayambunath) at sunrise to spend time with Tibetan monks and pilgrims as they go about their daily religious tasks. From Swayambunath we travel on to the Hindu temple and holy men of Pashupatinath. This is a remarkable place of ancient rituals and a unique place to discuss photography techniques. In the afternoon we head deep into the old market district of Ason full of color and vigor and on to Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. The streets along the way are alive with vendors and buyers. By the end of the day, we will have immersed in Kathmandu culture and hopefully some ideas for our photographic exploration ahead.

  • Day 3 : Bhaktapur

    Bhaktapur is a very special place and a photographers dream, it was once one of the kingdoms in the Kathmandu Valley. Named “The City of Devotees” Bhaktapur still retains its medieval charm here we have a chance to explore the alleyways and the stunning Newari architecture in the late afternoon and early morning light. The past glory of the Malla rulers is very much reflected here while traditional industries of pottery and weaving also provide great photo opportunities. At dusk and dawn, the streets fill with local produce vendors selling their goods to residents that provide wonderful subjects for our photography. Overnight hotel

  • Day 4 : Bandipur

    Today we leave the valley behind and head west out of the Kathmandu Valley for a drive into the hills that eventually lead to Pokhara. Bandipur is a pretty hill-top town at the end of a winding switchback road. The local people are Newari (traditional Nepali inhabitants) and the craftwork of the residents is reflected this. We have a boutique hotel for the night and some time in the evening to check and share our digital images. The traditional old town with plenty of photo opportunities. Overnight hotel

  • Day 5 : Pokhara

    A two hour drive late morning to arrive in Pokhara for lunchtime. Pokhara is our base for preparing for the Annapurnas ahead, and we make arrangements to ensure all travelers have snug sleeping bags and a chance to shop for any extra warm clothing and snacks for the mountains. There are also some stunning views of the dramatic peaks that surround Pokhara including the holy mountain Machhapuchhre, The Fish Tail Peak.

  • Day 6 : Marpha

    The day starts early with a spectacular flight through the Himalayas from Pokhara into Jomsom, a village in the Annapurna Region of Nepal located at 2800m. We spend two nights to the south of Jomsom in the charming town of Marpha to explore a few villages, moraines, and scenic locations. These few days also help us to adjust to the mountain air and altitude. The pace is easy for these two days are however there are opportunities for short hikes for those who want to stretch their legs. Accommodation for these two days is clean but simple, taking advantage of some local guesthouses that offer good food and great access to photographic inspiration. Overnight guest Houses

  • Day 7 : Marpha

    We head further into the former Mustang Kingdom where the landscape presents ever-changing views of the Annapurnas and their peaks with some very unusual rock formations at the base of the mighty Himalayas. Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri present themselves in various facades as we head north from Jomsom. Getting to Kagbeni means a jeep ride, a short hike and then another jeep. On arrival at Kagbeni, we’ll have some stunning sunrise opportunities, colorful vistas and a chance to explore and photograph a Tibetan like lifestyle along with a Tibetan monastery.   • Day 9 : Kagbeni

    From Kagbeni we drive on to Muktinath a famous religious pilgrimage for both Hindus and Buddhists at 3800 meters. .We spend a night here with time to explore the sacred temple. The most prominent shrine in the temple is a Vishnu temple where 108 spouts fashioned in the shape of cows heads pour forth water that is considered to be holy. There are also some great landscape vistas to be enjoyed at sunrise, and also sunset. Overnight guest house

  • Day 11 : Muktinath

  • Day 12 : Jomsom

    We drive back to Jomosom in the morning visiting local villages below Muktinath on the way. Back in Jomosom for one night with hot showers and some great hot food. freshly crushed apple juice, fluffy pancakes, and potato & cheese momos are a combination well worth trying. We rest up before flying out to Pokhara very early the next morning,

  • Day 13 : Kathmandu

    We have two short flights today one to Pokhara then back to Kathmandu in the morning, a visit to Patan (another former Kingdom) is planned for the afternoon. The following day we visit a Newari village for the morning light and finish the day at Boudhanath for the evening light.

  • Day 14 : Kathmandu

    We have two short flights today one to Pokhara then back to Kathmandu in the morning, a visit to Patan (another former Kingdom) is planned for the afternoon. The following day we visit a Newari village for the morning light and finish the day at Boudhanath for the evening light.

  • Day 15 : Departure

    On the final day, we head to the airport at Kathmandu and fly home. Your transfer to the airport is included and if you are traveling independently we recommend you arrange flights to depart around lunchtime or soon after.
