The best and most popular treks on All Transport Trekk’s, the Takesi Trail is a fantastic 40km hike starting near La Paz that crosses the Cordillera Real and plunges down into the steamy forested valleys of the Yungas, emerging at the village of Yanacachi, west of Chulumani on the road from La Paz. Also known as the Camino del Inca (The Gold Inca Trail) the Takesi is one of the finest remaining pre-Columbian paved roads in Bolivia, and passes through an amazing variety of scenery.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Go to San Francisco Mine - Village Takesi

  We start this day at 07:30 when you are picked up from your hotel then we head in a private vehicle to Mina San Francisco (4700 m). At 10:00 we begin the trek going up for 2 hours in the direction of the Cumbre (4950 m) where we arrive at noon.
  
  Later we go down for 30 minutes to have lunch near a lagoon. After resting for an hour we continue the trek heading towards Puente Peatón. On the way we admire the pre-Inca cobblestone path where we note the slow change of the vegetation. During the descent we pass the village of Taquesi (3200 m) and later around 17:00 we arrive at Puente Peatón where the guide puts up the tents. At 19:00 we have dinner and rest.

• Day 2 : Chojlla Mine - Return

  At 07:30 in the morning we begin the day with breakfast. After an hour and a half we head set off for Mina Chojlla.
  
  On the way we admire the major vegetation of the Yungas and we pass through the village of Kakapi (2800 m). At around 12:00 we have lunch on the shore of a river.
  
  After an hour and a half of rest we continue on the trek descending and at 15:30 we arrive at Mina Chojlla (2280) from where we return to La Paz in a private vehicle arriving there around 19:00.
