Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary Overview

General Information Area covered- 202square.kilometers. Chief attraction- Hoolock Gibbon. Location- The sanctuary is located around 37kms from Dimapur, Nagaland. Explore the wilds of Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary! The Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is situated about 111kms from Kohima and around 37kms from Dimapur in Nagaland. The sanctuary is protected by the Forest Wildlife Department. The sanctuary covers an area of around 202sq.kms, which abounds in natural vegetation. The sanctuary has a large number of mountains & hills and the altitude of the place ranges around 677m. The place is very rich in natural vegetation and comprises of various species of plants & trees that are hard to find somewhere else. The time period between the months of November-February is the ideal time for visiting the place. Fauna- The sanctuary is a home to various rare species of wild animals. The chief attraction of the sanctuary is the Hoolock Gibbon, which is the only kind of Gibbon that is found in India. In addition to this, one can see various other animals like Elephants, Sambar, Goral, Barking deer, Flying squirrel, Tiger, Mithun, Sloth bear, Wild dog and many more. One can also see various types of birds like Hornbill, Common pheasant, Kaleej, Black stor etc. Accommodation One can find a comfortable lodging at the Circuit house or even at the PWD Inspection Bungalow, which is available for tourists in Nagaland. How to reach! Rail- The nearest railway station is located at Dimapur. Air- The nearest airport is situated at Dimapur. Road- The sanctuary is well connected by National Highway 39 to the rest of India.
