Bugis / Lake Tempe — Toraja Tour

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival in Makassar / Drive to Sengkang (L,D)

  Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be picked up by our tour guide. Then we will directly depart to Sengkang, located on the center of the former Bugis Kingdom. On the way, visit Jenetaesa Village the Kingdom of Bats. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en route. In the afternoon, arrive in Sengkang. Onwards we will visit the Lake Tempe where we will have a boat trip to explore the daily life of local Bugis fishermen who do live on the floating houses while try to catch the beautiful sunset over the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 2 : Sengkang — Toraja Via Palopo (B,L,D)

  After breakfast, check out hotel. Then we will visit the traditional Bugis Silk Cloth Weaving Center. Then proceed to Tana Toraja via Palopo, where the road from Palopo to Toraja offers one of the most exotic mountainous views in Indonesia. Lunch en-route. In the afternoon, arrive in Rantepao the capital of North Toraja Regency. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 3 : Full Day Tana Toraja Tour (B,L,D)

  After breakfast, we will take you on a full day Toraja tour. First, we will visit Lemo hanging graves with their rows of Tau-Tau sculptures, Tampangallo, an ancient and natural grave in a cave with its entombed deceased, Kambira the baby graves on tree which called “ Tarra Tree “. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will have an easy walking tour from Bebo to Karuaya. At last we will visit Kete’ Kesu, a beautiful local Torajan village which has been listed on the world heritage book where we can see old Tongkonan houses with rice barns and ancient hanging graves on the cliff-side. Then we back to the Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 4 : Full Day Tana Toraja (B,L,D)

  After breakfast, we will take you on another full day tour around Tana Toraja. In the morning, we will visit Londa to see the strangest graves of the world. Then proceed to Pasar Bolu to see the buffalo market, Bori’ ancient monolith stones which have been nailed since the past of 600 years. Onwards to Pallawa a local Toraja village with unique formation of its Tongkonan houses. Then we will take you to Tinombayo highland & Batutumonga. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Then we will visit Lokomata a grave on a giant rock. Proceed to Suloara to start our 1-2 hours easy walking tour to Kapalapitu. After enough time, back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 5 : Tana Toraja— Makassar / Rammang-rammang Adventure (B,L,D)

  Check out hotel at 7.00 AM. Then drive back to Makassar via Pare-Pare. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Pare-Pare. On the way from Pare-Pare to Makassar, stop will be made in the district of Salenrang in Maros where we will have a short boat trip through the river Pute to visit the Karst Stone Forest in Kampung Berua village. Stop at Rammang-Rammang village for coffee break at a café shop which is surrounded by beautiful limestone hills area. Then boating back to river Pute to back to our car. Then drive through Makassar. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Makassar.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Day 6 : Transfer Airport (B)

  After breakfast, check out hotel. If we still have time, we will take you on a city tour around Makassar, visiting The Fort Rotterdam, an Old Dutch Fortress. Onwards to Paotere Anchorage, the traditional Makassarese and Buginese Phinisi Boat Harbor. Then transfer to Hasanuddin Airport Makassar to catch your flight to your next destination.
