About Dispur

Dispur is a town in Guwahati as well as the capital city of the Indian state of Assam. In the year 1973, Dispur was officially declared as the capital city after subdivision of Assam that gave birth to Meghalaya. This tiny town stands amid the smallest capitals in the world & is known as a popular tourist destination.


Dispur is elevated 181 feet above the sea level and is fed by the waters of River Bashishtha. Hemmed by the beguiling hills, Dispur is endowed with beautiful landscapes and woods. Such serene location describes its climate as tropical wet in nature. The city experiences pleasant temperature throughout the year. The median temperature during summer months scale up to 35°C & average temperature during the winters remain below 13°C. Dispur receives heavy rainfall during monsoons with an average of 1700 mm annually.
