Tansa Lake is located in Thane district in Konkan region of Maharashtra. The lake is the main source of water supply for the city of Mumbai and has a capacity to store 3 million gallons of water. It supplies 300 thousand gallons of water every day to Mumbai through specially laid pipelines. It is a pleasant place for a daylong excursion. The glittering expanse of Tansa Lake is an eye-catching spectacle and also a perennial source of water to wild life in the Tansa Sanctuary.
