Package Overview

About 5 Days Serengeti Migration Safari Tour in Tanzania
This 5-day Big Serengeti Migration Safari package has been created to focus on and maximize your chances of seeing the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in the Ndutu Area during the calving season. The schedule has been intended to encompass the Ndutu Area, where the majority of the wildebeest migration occurs from January to March. This schedule is set out so that you drive into the Serengeti National Park and back to Arusha town. Calving takes place in January, February, and March each year. After the rains begin to fall in January, the herds begin to migrate south of the Serengeti. Many people have wondered how the herds know if it is raining or not, and the truth is that we don't know! Many people claim to be able to smell the rain, while others believe they can detect changes in air pressure. The only thing we know for sure is that the herds follow the rain. Over half a million wildebeest are born in a two- to three-week span, with as many as 8,000 being born on the same day!

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

The first day of your safari will begin at 8 a.m. with a pick-up from your Arusha accommodation. You will depart for Tarangire National Park once everyone has boarded. The 150 km drive will take roughly 3 hours. The national park is well-known and unique for its varied topography and nine distinct vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be greeted by old and massive Baobab trees, which dwarf even large creatures like the giraffe. The game drive lasts until late afternoon, with a brief halt for a picnic lunch. The Tarangire River flows through the 3,000-square-kilometer park, giving it its name. The river draws a wide variety of animals, and you should see elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebra. You might be able to identify the tree-climbing python and the long-necked Gerek if you're lucky. The Tarangire National Park has the highest number of elephants, providing a rare opportunity to watch elephant family dynamics. Don't forget to take pictures of the stunning scenery using your camera. Following the game drive, you'll return to your camp/lodge for a sumptuous meal. Sleep well tonight in preparation for tomorrow's trip. Overnight in Manyara's Public Camp/Tented Camp/Lodge.

  • Day 2 : DRIVE TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you to the Serengeti National Park through the Ngorongoro crater rim. Leaving the highlands behind, you will descend into the heart of untamed Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its vast plains stretching as far as the eye can see. You'll travel to the Seronera sector of the central park, one of the park's finest wildlife habitats, which includes the Seronera River, which serves as a vital water source for the area and hence draws wildlife that is representative of the Serengeti's species. You will go on a game drive in the vicinity before driving to the Serengeti's Public/ Tented Camp or Lodge in the evening.

  • Day 3 : FULL DAY GAME VIEW IN SERENGETI

Spend an entire day exploring the Serengeti's huge plains. You'll get up early to go on a morning game drive. You may see animals grazing in the wonderful morning light, and predators may still be hunting before retiring for the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed, and there will be plenty of photo possibilities at this magnificent hour. You have the choice of returning to your accommodation for a cooked lunch or packing a picnic meal to enjoy at one of the Serengeti's many picnic areas. You will continue on a game drive after lunch. Keep an eye out for lions as evening approaches. Cheetah can also be seen on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when the weather is not too hot. To catch their prey, they rely on daylight and speed. A hippopotamus can be found in the larger pools and rivers, while crocodiles can be found lounging on the riverbanks. Before your evening meal, you'll return to camp in time for a sundowner. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Public/ Tented Camp or Lodge.

  • Day 4 : SERENGETI – NAABI TO NGORONGORO

You'll get up early for an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, then go to Ndutu for a full day of wildlife viewing. You begin searching for big cats as well as calving wildebeests. This time of year, wildebeests are expected to arrive in the area for calving season, which begins in mid-February. You can either have lunch at the lodge and then go, or you can go on a full-day game drive. You will drive to Tanzania Bush Camps Ndutu in the late afternoon for dinner and stay. Overnight at Ndutu's Tented Camp. (A Hot Air Balloon ride is also available in this location.) Excursion to the Serengeti via Balloon Those who book ahead of time will be able to fly across the plains during one of their mornings in the Serengeti. A pre-dawn wake-up call gives you enough time to get to the balloon launch point in time for the best light. Then, as the sun rises, take to the skies. Glide across the plains and acacia treetops, taking in breathtaking vistas of the Seronera River Valley and adjacent plains. Enjoy a wonderful champagne breakfast in the Serengeti wildness following your descent.

  • Day 5 : NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA

At 6:00 a.m., depart the camp for the Ngorongoro Crater. After checking in, you'll take a 600-meter descent into the crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro crater sustains a diverse range of wildlife, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and enormous African elephants, thanks to year-round water and feed. Another major lure to this beautiful national park is its large predator population, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which requires a skilled eye to identify. Lake Magadi, a massive but shallow alkaline lake in the crater's southwest quadrant, is one of the crater's most prominent features. There are generally a lot of flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic fowl around. You leave the crater after lunch and head to Arusha/Moshi.
