According to legend, Shiva created Gosainkunda when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison thunderbolt that threatened to destroy the world. From Gosainkunda we trek on to the Laurabina pass and then down into the Helambu region. For a better description of the region please go to the Helambu trekking page.
