Day 1 : Leh
Arrive early morning into Leh by your flight. Don’t forget to put on your jacket in the warm comfort of the plane. Don’t want you catching a chill with the instant drop in temperature as you step out! Later in the day will be much warmer, not to worry. You will be received at the airport by a representative and transferred to your comfortable hotel. One of the most important components of your trip that you must adhere to is the acclimatization required due to the much higher altitude. Do not plan on heading out at all today. Sleep. Don’t worry about that slight headache almost everyone experiences on day 1. Eat and rehydrate properly. Maximum exertion should maybe be a small stroll outside to the neighboring shops. Meals included are lunch and dinner.
Day 2 : Leh - Magnetic Sangam Alchi - Leh
Everyone should by now be halfway to having acclimatized to the altitude, but we do not want you to exert too much with any walking. So get into the transport and enjoy the lovely drive Alchi. The scenery along the way is amazing and you can also experience the awesome gravity defying qualities of the magnetic hill. After enjoying the quaint village and monastery at Alchi, we head back to Leh to relax for the evening and get another good night’s sleep. Meals included are breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3 : Leh - Nubra
Wake up fresh and slightly early today to enjoy a warm breakfast. Today we cross one of the highest Motorable passes in the world, called Khardung La, at an altitude 17,582ft above mean sea level. Once across we head down into one of the most picturesque areas anywhere on the planet - Nubra Valley. Snowcapped peaks, desert sand dunes with Bactrian camels, rivers, green grass and trees all greet you in the same glance! After exploring this absolutely scenic area, we stay overnight at Deluxe camp night. Meals included are Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4 : Nubra - Leh
After an early breakfast, we head out to explore another part of the Nubra valley in the direction of the famous Siachen Glacier. We visit the hot springs and the fascinating Samstaling Gompa. After this we head back towards Leh, stopping en route for a warm lunch surrounded by towering mountains and breathtaking views. We reach back to Leh by late afternoon. Relax for a bit and then head out to explore the lovely market and many cafes/restaurants. This day we can either go out for dinner as a group or everyone can try out the restaurant that looks inviting to them. One of the favorites and quite close to the hotel is a restaurant called Summer Harvest. Meals included are Breakfast and Lunch.
Day 5 : Leh - Pangong - Leh
Wake up fresh for some hot lemon tea and breakfast. We today head for the world famous lake called Pangong Tso. En route visit Thiksay monastery. It is said that on a clear day, you can clearly see up to 9 different shades of blue and green in the lake. We explore around the lake and also as importantly just sit and enjoy the tranquil beauty it offers so abundantly. everyone enjoys walking around the lake a little more. Almost each person who visits Pangong always feels that one day is not enough for visiting it. The truth is even a week still feels too short. Once the group has had their fill of the lake’s beauty, Return to Leh. Overnight Leh.
Day 6 : Visit Shey Thiksay Hemis monasteries.
Shey monastery: King Deldan Namgyal built the monastery and Palace in 1655. The monastery is noted for its giant copper with gilded gold statue of a seated Boudha. Palace was used as a summer retreat by the kings of Ladakh.
Thikse monastery It is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Yellow Hat School (Gelugpa) located on top of a hill, approximately 19 kilometres east of Leh in Ladakh, India. It is noted for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. It is 25 km from Leh.
Hemis monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Drukpa Lineage,located in Hemis, Ladakh 45 km from Leh, the monastery was built in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The annual Hemis festival honoring Padmasambhava is held here in June or in July. Hemis monastery is 40 km from Leh.
Day 7 : Leh - Delhi
After an early breakfast, we are transferred to the airport to catch our flight back home, taking with us memories to last a lifetime and a resolve to be back again soon some day!
