1 Nights / 2 Days
A two-day trip to Bali is a whirlwind, but with strategic planning, you can get a taste of the island's unique culture, stunning landscapes, and beautiful beaches. Since Bali is a large island and getting around can take time due to traffic, it's best to focus on one or two regions to avoid spending your entire trip in a car. This itinerary is designed for first-time visitors and focuses on a combination of cultural highlights and scenic spots in the most popular areas: Ubud and Uluwatu.
Important Notes for Your Bali Trip:
Transportation: The most efficient way to get around Bali is by hiring a private driver for the day. You can find these easily through your hotel or local tour companies. For a 2-day trip, this is the most stress-free option.
Location: This itinerary assumes you will base yourself in a central location like Seminyak or Ubud, or that you are comfortable with a lot of driving. The trips below are designed to be part of a day-long tour.
Ubud is a lush, green paradise known for its rice paddies, spiritual temples, and vibrant arts scene. This day focuses on getting a feel for the region's unique atmosphere.
Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Monkey Forest and Rice Terraces
Start your day at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a lush nature reserve where you can walk through a forest filled with ancient temples and hundreds of playful long-tailed macaques. Be sure to keep your belongings secure, as the monkeys are known for their curiosity!
Next, head to the iconic Tegalalang Rice Terraces. Admire the intricate "subak" (traditional Balinese irrigation system) that has been recognized by UNESCO. You can take a scenic walk through the terraces, pose for photos on one of the famous "Bali Swings," and enjoy the breathtaking views.
Afternoon (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Temples and Waterfalls
For lunch, find a restaurant with a view of the rice terraces. Many cafes in the area offer delicious food with spectacular scenery.
Visit Tirta Empul Temple, a Hindu Balinese water temple famous for its holy spring water. You can observe the purification rituals of locals, and if you wish, you can even participate in the cleansing ceremony yourself.
Cool off at a nearby waterfall. Tegenungan Waterfall is a popular choice, with a powerful cascade and a pool for swimming at the base.
Evening (6:00 PM onwards): Ubud's Charm
Return to Ubud town for dinner. The town center is filled with diverse and delicious dining options.
Experience a traditional Balinese dance performance, such as a Kecak Fire Dance or a Legong dance. These performances are a mesmerizing blend of intricate movements, colorful costumes, and traditional music. Many are held at the Ubud Palace (Puri Saren Agung) or other local venues.
On your second day, head south to the stunning cliffs and world-class surfing beaches of Uluwatu.
Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Surfing Beaches and Cliffside Views
Start your day with a visit to one of Uluwatu's famous beaches. Padang Padang Beach is a secluded, beautiful cove known for its crystal-clear water and a popular spot for surfers.
Continue to Melasti Beach or Pandawa Beach, both known for their beautiful white sand and dramatic limestone cliffs. You can relax, swim, and enjoy the sun.
Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Tanah Lot Temple
After a beachside lunch, make the journey to the northwest to Tanah Lot Temple. Perched on a rocky outcrop in the sea, this temple is one of Bali's most iconic landmarks. At low tide, you can walk across to the temple complex.
The temple is best known for its incredible sunset views. Plan to arrive a couple of hours before sunset to find a good spot and take photos as the light changes.
Evening (6:00 PM onwards): Sunset and Departure
Witness the breathtaking sunset at Tanah Lot. The combination of the silhouette of the temple against the vibrant sky is an unforgettable sight.
For your final dinner, head to Jimbaran Bay. This area is famous for its beachfront seafood restaurants where you can dine with your feet in the sand and enjoy fresh, grilled seafood as waves gently lap the shore.
From Jimbaran, it's a short drive to Ngurah Rai International Airport for your departure.
