Pandav Caves are a famous place of interest located in the beautiful hill town of Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh). As per the name, these caves are a group of 5 caves that were carved by the Pandavas during their exile. One small cave is also located near the Pandav Caves and is known as Draupadi Kuti. Among these caves, the darkest cave is Bhim Kothari, which belonged to Bhim. Presently, these caves are a protected monument and are visited by hundreds of visitors.
The History of Pandav Caves
According to the history, these caves provided shelter to the Pandavas when they were sent to exile by their blood brothers, the Kauravas. During the exile, Pandavas chose Pachmarhi for residing and dug 5 caves. Close to these caves, a small cave is located that is said to be the cave of Draupadi.
After the Pandavas left from this place, these caves in Pachmarhi became a refuge center for the Buddhist monks. Inside the walls of the cave, the Buddhist paintings and inscriptions were discovered which date back to the 1st century.

Pandav Caves are a major site of interest in Pachmarhi. Tourists, throughout the year, visit Pandav Caves and admire them. Excluding the months of April-August, the rest of the months are apt for visiting this enchanting place. The temperatures during April-August are not considered as appropriate for visiting the site of Pandav Caves.
