In the total population of Rajasthan tribal population is about twelve per cent. The main tribes in Rajasthan are Bhils and Minas they are the oldest inhabitants of Rajasthan. Rajasthan has several other tribes as well they are very small in number and are spread in different parts. These tribes have several similarities despite of following different customs, wearing different attires, jewelry and attending different festivals etc. The main tribes of Rajasthan, India are : - Bhils Bhils constitute a mammoth population of the tribes of Rajasthan which is 39%. The Bhils have a fine history of being very talented archer as they have been mentioned in Mahabharata and Ramayana, they are in high number in the area of Banswara. They are food gatherers turned small farmers and are constantly facing a high development in their living. The Bhils celebrate Holi and Baneshwar fair with extra fervor. Minas Minas come second to Bhils in number in the state of Rajasthan. They are told to be the real inhabitants of Indus Valley Civilization. The Minas have light brown complexion, atheletic build up and also they are tall. They inhabit the regions of Shekhawati as well as eastern Rajasthan. The marriage of Minas is solemnized in very young age. Gadiya Lohars Gudiya Lohars are named after their beautiful bullock carts that are called gadis. They are wandering blacksmiths and are very skilled in making different iron tools of high quality. They were Rajput warriors before leaving their homeland Chittorgarh after the fierce war and defeat of Maharana Pratap from Emperor Akbar. Garasias Garasias is one among the small Rajput tribes in Rajasthan that inhabit Abu Road area of South Rajasthan. Sahariyas Sahariyas are among one of the most backward tribes in Rajasthan who are famous for residing in jungles. They are believed to be originated from the Bhil tribe and largely occupy the areas of Dungarpur and Sawai Madhopur, kota in southeast part of Rajasthan. Their main occupation is of fishing, hunting and shifting cultivation. Damors Damors belong to the districts of Dungarpur and Udaypur an are mainly cultivators as well as manual laborers.
