Climate & Geography

The climate of Ivory Coast varies from the southern parts to the northern parts. The southern coasts have a warm and humid equatorial climate while the northern parts see a tropical climate. The period between November and March is warm and dry, the one between March and May is hot and dry and the one between June and October is hot and wet. The average temperatures of Ivory Coast range between 25 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius (77 degrees F and 89.6 degrees F).

Ivory Coast is situated between latitudes 4 degrees and 11 degrees N and longitudes 2 degrees and 9 degrees W. It is surrounded by Mali and Burkina Faso in the north, Liberia and Guinea in the west, the Gulf of Guinea in the south and Ghana in the east.

Territory & Capital : The terrain of Ivory Coast is a plateau rising from the coast to the mountains in the north. Ivory Coast has extensive forest cover and the nation is rich in natural resources. Mount Nimba, located in the far west of Ivory Coast stands at 1,752 meters (5,748 feet).

Suitable Visiting Seasons : The period between November and February has cool temperatures and is usually very dry and the best time to visit Ivory Coast. The rains and the dusty winds may create impediments.

The railways, highways, waterways and airways are convenient ways of transportation in Ivory Coast. The railways are state-controlled and link Ivory Coast to the nearby nations.
