The highest temple devoted to Lord Shiva and the most lofty among the Panch Kedars is the Tungnath temple located at an altitude of 3680 m in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
Chopta is a 164 km drive from Rishikesh.
The temple is a approx. 3.5 km inclined trek from Chopta road following up with a 2 km trek to Chandrashila (4000m).
The whole trek is embodied with spellbinding vista of marvy meadows and copses of Rhododendron trees which candidly is a feast for one's eye. The temple comes under the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary and therefore is home to an array of exquisite flora and fauna. Animals inhabiting this region are musk deer, fox, Himalayan barking deer, yellow throated marten, Himalayan Tahr and the Pika(closely related to rabbits) who are very common here.
Leave early morning from Dehradun/Rishikesh to reach Deoria Tal by lunch. Our guide will escort you to the base hotel/camp. This is going to be a 1 km hike after which you will check in, have lunch, evening tea, bonfire, dinner and sleep by 9 to start our day early the next morning.

We leave our Deoria tal base after breakfast and start our 12 km trek to Chopta base. We should reach Chopta by lunch and check in our hotel/camp.

We leave our Chopta base after breakfast and start our 3.5 km Trek to Tungnath temple followed by the 2 km final summit to Chandrashila Peak (4000 m). We return back to our Chopta base after the final summit. Our day will end here.
