This 7-day journey heads south from Addis Ababa into Ethiopia's Omo Valley, home to some of Africa's most distinct tribal cultures. Travelers pass the Tiya stelae field, cruise Lake Chamo by boat, and visit Konso's terraced villages before meeting the Mursi people near Mago National Park and the Hamar and Dassanech communities around Turmi. The route also passes through the colorful Key Afer and Dimeka tribal markets, and returns to Addis Ababa via the lakes of the Great Rift Valley. Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival In Addis Ababa & City Tour

Arrive at Bole International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon touring Addis Ababa, including the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Entoto Hill, and the bustling Mercato market.

Day 2 Drive To Arba Minch Via Tiya Stelae

Drive south towards Arba Minch, stopping en route at the Tiya Stelae Field, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring carved monuments from an ancient Ethiopian civilization. Continue driving to Arba Minch, arriving in the evening.

Day 3 Lake Chamo Boat Trip & Drive To Jinka Via Konso

Take a morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to view hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. Continue by road to Konso to explore the terraced village of the Konso people, a UNESCO-recognized farming community, then drive on to Jinka for the overnight stay.

Day 4 Mago National Park & Mursi Tribe Visit

Drive through Mago National Park, keeping an eye out for dik-dik, gazelle, and various bird species, to visit a Mursi village. Learn about the Mursi people's traditions, including their distinctive lip plates and body scarification, before returning to Turmi for the overnight stay.

Day 5 Dassanech & Hamar Tribal Villages

Take a half-day excursion along the Omo River to visit the Dassanech tribe. In the afternoon, return to Turmi to experience the traditions of the Hamar people, known for their distinctive body adornments and bull-jumping ceremonies.

Day 6 Turmi To Arba Minch Via Tribal Markets

Drive from Turmi back towards Arba Minch, stopping at one of the region's colorful tribal markets along the way. The Dimeka market (Tuesdays and Saturdays) and Key Afer market (Thursdays) draw the Benna, Hamer, Karo, Tsemay, Ari, and Mursi peoples. Arrive in Arba Minch in the early evening.

Day 7 Addis Ababa

Drive back to Addis Ababa via a different route, passing the Great Rift Valley lakes of Langano, Ziway, and Koka, with a chance to see Abijatta-Shalla National Park along the way. Arrive in Addis Ababa with time for shopping before a farewell dinner featuring Ethiopian cuisine, music, and dance.
