Package Overview

One of the most thrilling wildlife experiences in the world. It involves the massive annual movement of over million wildebeest, along with zebras, gazelles, and predators, across the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and into Maasai mara in Kenya. The migration most dramatic moments occur when animals attempt to cross Mara river, often facing predator like crocodiles and lions.

Timing of the Migration:
The Migration is a year- round event, but it follows a general pattern

January to March: Calving season in the southern Serengeti. It’s an excellent time to witness wildebeest giving birth, attracting predators.
April to June: The herd begins to move forward the central and western Serengeti and into maasai mara in Kenya.
July to October: The herds are in the northern Serengeti, crossing the mara river into the maasai mara, where dramatic river crossing occurs, often with crocodile waiting in the water
November to December: After the rainy season, the herd begin to move back south.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive Arusha

  Upon arrival Kilimanjaro international airport or Arusha airport, you will be welcomed by Wilder Face Safaris representative and transfer you to your lodge/ hotel, in Arusha for overnight. Optional, Arusha National Park, or enjoy a relaxing day at your lodge.

• Day 2 : Arusha to Tarangire National Park,

  Morning, after breakfast drive to Tarangire Park (2-3hrs), arrival at the lodge for lunch (optional, nature walk), then in the Afternoon, safari in the park, as is known for its massive elephants’ herds and the iconic baobab trees. The park is especially scenic in the dry season when animal gather around the Tarangire river. Overnight in the park, lodge or tented camp.

• Day 3 : Tarangire to Ngorongoro crater

  Enjoy an early morning game drive en-route in Tarangire, afterward head to Ngorongoro crater (2-3 hours). The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of big five 9lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhino and leopards), game drive in the crater as one of the best places in the world to see large numbers of wildlife. With its unique geography, you can spot diverse species, including flamingos on the crater lake and often see predators like lion and hyenas. Overnight at the lodge on the crater rim.

• Day 4 : Ngorongoro to Serengeti park (Central)

  Morning, after breakfast departs for Serengeti national park (3-4 hours). Arrives in the central Serengeti known for its incredible wildlife and scenic plains. July- September marks peak of the great migration and you’ll likely see the large herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Predator like lion, cheetah, and leopards are commonly spotted hunting the migrating herds. Overnight Katikati camps.

• Day 5 : Serengeti Park (central to Northern)

  Morning, enjoy an early game drive in the central Serengeti then later in the afternoon travel to the northern Serengeti (3-4 hours), this is where the herds of wildebeest are likely to begin the mara river crossing- a dramatic and highly anticipated moment during the migration. Overnight at the luxury lodge or camp.

• Day 6 : Full Day Mara River Crossing Safari

  Morning and afternoon safari, spend a full day exploring the Mara river and surrounding areas, in the peak season, for river crossing, you’ll have a chance to witness the wildebeest and zebras attempting to cross the dangerous river, often facing the peril of crocodiles and predators. Optional, Hot air balloon at down for a bird’s eye view of the migration and surrounding landscape. Overnight, another stay night in northern Serengeti at your camp or lodge.

• Day 7 : Departure

  Morning, after breakfast, game drive en-route as heading to kogatende airstrip for your flight to Arusha. Meal and shopping and transfers to Kilimanjaro international airport for your departure. Optional, extension for beach holiday, Zanzibar.
