Never ending ridge lines, sprawling Bugiyals, High altitude lakes, majestic peak views and snow on the trail make Brahma Tal Trek a compelling proposition for a winter trek. Brahma Tal is a hidden and secluded lake amidst the ridge, where Lord Brahma meditated according to mythology. The peak view from the route is captivating; from east to west one can see the High Himalayan ranges. From right to left on one side we can see Mrigthuni, Trishul, Bethartoli Himal and Nandaghunti. On the other side we can see the massive Chaukhamba, Nilkanth, Kamet, Hathi and Ghoda peaks. This is just the opposite ridge of the famous Roopkund trek and offers a bird’s eye view of the route including Ali Bugiyal, Bedni Bugiyal, Roopkund and Junargali.Any kind of personal expenses

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

From Kathgodam to Loharjung (215 Kms)

Arrive at Kathgodam railway station and drive to Loharjung which will take approximately 8 to 9 hours. The route will pass through several beautiful hill stations like Bhimtal, Almora, Kausani and Baijnath. You can take a break at Kausani to soak in the beauty of the Himalayan ranges. Several peaks such Mt. Kamet with Ghori Parvat, Hathi Peak, Nandaghunti, Trishul, Mrigthuni , Maiktoli, Nanda Devi till Panchachuli group can be spotted from here. By day’s end you reach the beautiful basecamp for this beautiful trek to Brahma Tal called Loharjung. Overnight stay and dinner here.

Day 2

From Loharjung to Bekaltal (7611 – 9875 Ft. 6km)

We start our beautiful trek from today as we move gradually upwards through the forests lined by a few mountain houses. Today’s trek will take around 4 to 5 hours to reach our campsite near a calm lake called Bekal Tal. The area is surrounded with thick oak forests and in winter the lake will be completely frozen.

Day 3

Bekaltal to Khabekhal (or Brahmatal) (9875 – 10738 Ft. 2.5km)

Today as we proceed further through thick oak forests for a continuous hour or so followed by a steep descent, we will reach today’s campsite Khabekhal. However in winters snowfall may occur anytime and depending on snow conditions, it might take longer to reach the destination.

Day 4

Khabekhal to Daldum Via Brahma Tal Peak (12618 Ft.) (10728 – 9350 Ft. 5 Km)

Today’s agenda will be to climb to Brahma Tal and return back to campsite. The time taken to reach the summit is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The trail followed is a curvy route sandwiched between two valleys on either side. It offers splendid views of the mighty Himalayas especially Trishul and Nandaghunti.

Day 5

From Daldum to Loharjung (9350 – 7627 Ft. 3.7 Km)

Today we will prepare ourselves for descent back to Loharjung through the same forested trails passing by several mountain villages on the slopes.

Day 6

From Loharjung to Kathgodam

Today we leave from Loharjung to Kathgodam for the journey back home.(own transport)
