Day wise Itinerary

Meet and greet by our safari representative upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport. Enjoy a 1 -2hrs transfer to Kampala for overnight on bed and breakfast basis at the Kampala Serena Hotel

You will be picked up by our safari representative at 0630hrs at Kampala Serena Hotel. After briefing, you will proceed via the Equator heading due west through volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. Lunch break en-route in Mbarara and thereafter, proceed with your journey to Queen Elizabeth NP where the descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and Edward amidst game-filled plains. Arrival in the afternoon in time for the 16.15hrs boat cruise on the spectacular Kazinga Channel. This offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is colorful and abundant as there is a wide array of colorful beautiful birds soaring near to the water surface. Among the common species to look out for are the Martial Eagles, African spoonbills, Cormorants, African Skimmers, Pelicans and Papyrus Gonolek, in addition to the occasional hard to pin down Shoebill Stork. You will be privileged to see schools of hippos and Nile-crocodiles sunbathing and opening wide their sawlike jaws. Return to Mweya Safari Lodge in time for dinner and overnight. (Transit time: 6-7 hrs.)

Wake-up and prepare to be fascinated on a sunrise game-drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, check out and transfer via the Southern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park called Ishasha. You will set out to hunt, with your camera of course for the tree climbing lions. Drive through to Bwindi where upon arrival, check in at Trackers Lodge in time for dinner and overnight. (Transit Time: 5-6 hrs.)

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for an experience of a lifetime. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity. Return to Trackers Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Depart Bwindi after breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park to arrive in time for lunch. Enjoy the afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. This is the most popular activity in Lake Mburo National Park. The boat ride provides great opportunity to observe mighty hippo and crocodile populations. Water bird species are often too numerous for the keenest birder to identify all.
Lake Mburo National Park supports over 350 bird species including rare but regularly seen species like African fin foot and white-backed heron. The rarely seen papyrus gonolek may come to the edge of the papyrus if called using a recorded bird call. Other species in Lake Mburo include African fish eagles, Narina Trogon, Ross’s Turaco, African green-pigeon and the Bare-Faced Go-Away-bird among others. You will have a great experience coupled with stunning scenery and panoramic landscape views that will impress upon you true African beauty.

This is followed by the Ankole cattle keeping experience to see how the long horned Ankole cows are milked in the evening and the milk processing demonstration. Later as you proceed to the lodge, take a sundown game-drive to end your day in an adventurous style. You will be searching for zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck. Lake Mburo recently received 15 giraffes that were translocated from Nwoya District in Murchison Falls National Park. Dinner and overnight will be at Mihingo Lodge. (Transit time: 6 hrs)

Wake up to the rhythm of nature. After coffee attend a briefing by a ranger-guide at 0530hrs. Embark on a two hours safari walk to a salt-lick area called Rwonyo where many animals are attracted by the salty rocks. You may encounter hyenas returning to their dens and hippos retreating to the lake. Return to the lodge for breakfast, and rest awaiting lunch. After lunch, checkout and return to Kampala arriving in the early evening with drop off at the Kampala Serena Hotel on bed and breakfast basis. (Transit Time: 4-5 hrs.)

  • Day 7 : DEPARTURE

Morning breakfast, check out and drop off at Entebbe International Airport for flight back home.
