Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Shimla to Janglik, 6 – 7 hours/ 150 kms

7 to 8 Hours Drive from Shimla Bus Stand (old) to Reach Janglik. the Road is Not in the Best of Conditions So We Need to Be Prepared for a Bumpy Ride At Some Times.
Day 2 : Janglik to Dayara, (9,100 Feet to 11,100 Feet)/ (5 to 5.3 Hours)

We Start the Trek Early Morning. Today is a 5 to 5.3 Kms of Trekking. this Day Has a Gradual Climb to Start With. We Walk Through the Fields, Local Temples and Enter to the Forest Trail. We have 3 to 4 River Streams to Cross Before We Reach the Bakarwaal Hut (shepherd Hut). We Stop for Packed Lunch At this Spot and After Some Rest, We Continue the Trek. Another Hour of Trekking and We Reach the Camp for the Day, Dayara. Dayara is a Meadow with Greenery all Around. Most of the Times, We Spot Shepherds with Their Sheep Grazing Near the Campsite.

Day 3 : Dayara to Lithum (11,100 feet to 11,800 feet)/ (3 hours)

Today We have a Short Trek of About 3 Hours. We Start from Dayara After Breakfast and Walk Through Dense Forests, Wide Meadows, Gushing Streams. After Crossing the Stream, the Trail Climbs Out of the Forest and Rounds a Wide Curve to Regain the Views of the Snow Capped Mountains of the Dhauladhar Range and Gunas Pass. Approx 45 Mins Later, the Trail Dives Into Another Beautiful Forest Filled with the Himalayan Birch Trees (bhoj-patra). We Walk Through this Forest and Climb Out to Our Campsite for the Day, Litham.
Day 4 : Lithum to Chandranahan and back (11,800 feet to 13,960 feet)/ (6 – 7 hours)

We Could Either Use this Day as a Rest Day or We Could Go Explore the Chandranahan Lake. from the Campsite We Climb to the Gradual Ascend to Our Left. After About An Hour and Half, We Reach the Snout of the Waterfall and Rest for a While. if the Weather and Our Physical Stamina (entire Team's) is Fine, We Can Continue the Steep Climb to the Lake Else Head Back to the Campsite.
Day 5 : Lithum to Dunda (11,800 feet to 13,420 feet)/ (4 to 5 hours)

We prefer to start this day early as the next day after this would be a long day. After breakfast we leave for Dunda. Just 30 mins after the start of today's trek we reach a couple of lakes, firts one being a small one and the second one being a more scenic and beautiful lake. The source for both these lakes is the same Pabbar river flowing on our right all throughout till Dunda. After clicking some good pictures, we resume our trek with a gradual ascend. After trekking for nearly 3 hours now, we have a steep ascend towards the left that leads us straight to the climb to Dunda.

We start the climb to Dhunda by following the well marked shepherds' trail that leads in the general direction of the pass. About an hour of climb and we will reach the ridge top of Dhunda. At Dhunda we get clear views of Buran Ghati and the trail that leads to it.

Day 6 : Dunda to Buran Ghati Pass to River Campsite (13,420 Feet to 15,000 Feet to 11,900 Feet)/ (10 Hours)

Today's Trek is Going to Be Difficult Than the other Days. We Start with a Gentle Ascent Over Boulders for About An Hour Till the Base of the Pass Followed By An Hour's Steep Climb On Snow/ Boulders. Sharp/ Steep Descent On the other Side for 600 Meters Followed By a Series of Short Descents for About 2 Hours Till the End of the Snow Line, Easing Off Into a Gradual Descent. if There is a Lot of Snow On the Pass We Will have to Rappel Down with the Aid of Technical Equipment. if There is No Snow On the Pass, We Zig-zag Our Way Down Over a Few Patches of Boulders and Scree. this Route Down Will Be Steep At Some Places and Will Be Over Boulders Over the Other. Straight in Front of Us Will Be Visible Our Campsite. After a Long Trek Down, We Reach the Campsite and Retire for the Day.
Day 7 : River campsite to Barua (11,900 feet to 6,700 feet)/ (6 to 7 hours)

Today is Going to Be a Gradual Descend for About 4 Hours Followed By a Steep Descent for a Couple of Hours More. the Route is Going to Be a Well Defined Thin Trail. There is a Very Beautiful Waterfall Over a Rock-face, Which Needs to Be Crossed Over a Wooden Bridge. While Crossing this Bridge We Feel the Cold Winds from the Force of the Waterfall. from Here the Route is Filled with the Local Vegetation. Spices Ads Ajjwain Can Be Smelled Along. Apple Orchids, Fragrance of the Apple Ciders are all the Signs of the Village of Barua. from Here There is a Cemented Trail all the Way Till the Bridge of Karcham. We Trek Till the Last Point of this Village Where the Vehicles Will Be Waiting for Us. We Head Straight for Shimla the Same Day. Buses from Shimla to Chandigarh or Delhi Could Be Booked in Advance.
