Day 1 : Bursa Tour From Istanbul
You shall be picked up from Istanbul airport, Istanbul hotel, Istanbul Marina or your cruise ship port in Istanbul. Your Bursa tour guide will hold up a sign with your name on it so you can easily find your arranged tour guide and transfer service easily. This Bursa tour will take approximately 8 hours and afterwards we will drive you back to your Istanbul hotel, Istanbul Marina ,Istanbul airport or Istanbul harbor in Turkey.
Departure from Istanbul will be in the morning, and then a transfer across the Sea of Marmara by ferry.
At the foot Mount of Uludag (Misios Olympos) that had once been called the Mysian Olympus is located in the amazingly green town of Bursa. Mount of Uludag was previously known as Olympus Misios in ancient times and is known in mythology as the place where the gods watched the Trojan war. The most important peak in the province is Uludag, which is a ski resort and national park. Bursa is The First Capital of Ottoman Empire and where Osman Bey was born, it was him that conquered the towns around Bursa in 1299 and this is the year regarded as the founding of the Ottoman Empire, which was to survive for over six hundred years. (The word Ottoman is derived from his name, Osman) Bursa is located in the northwest of the Anatolian peninsula and southeast of the Marmara Sea - the shores of the Marmara Sea are just 135 km away. First we will go Tophane; Bursa is the most well-monitored park panoramic image.
Then we will move on to see the Clock Tower, this tower was built in 1906 in the park and is located in the 6-storey Ontario. You may find cafés and restaurants with excellent view of Bursa nearby if you fancy taking a rest and enjoying some refreshments too. In the same time you can see a lot of typical ottoman style beautiful buildings in the surroundings, then we will go over Bursa Castle for an exploration. Before lunch our last stop will be Ulumay Museum of Ottoman Folk Costumes and Jewellery; The Ulumay Museum of Ottoman Folk Costumes and Jeweler is home to a much prized collection, which is housed within the beautiful 15th-century building. Between the tour, you will be given one hour free time to relax so you can take some refreshments - why not try the very famous and delicious Iskender Kebab or the yummy Chestnut Candy.
After your lunch, you will see Ulu Mosque (Great Mosque) : It was constructed between 1396 and 1400 by Sultan Bayezit fully made up of cut stone with very thick and high walls, 12 heavy four edged grade with pendantives as of 20 domes. It is the most classical and monumental sample of the multi – domed mosques. It is the biggest in its size (318 square meters) among all of the Turkish mosques with its rich and roomy space, all being the grand noteworthy constructions in Bursa. And then you will go The Museum of Turkish and islamic Arts: This historical museum is an important Islamic site for its rich artifact collection. The exhibits include displays on items which are varied and fabrics, textiles, costumes, glass, porcelain are pottery to name just a few. The collection of the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, Bursa includes Selçuk ceramics, inlaid wood pieces, objects in iron, copper, bronze and wood, pearl and ivory articles, intarsia work, manuscripts, decorated book covers, screens, sections of decorated wooden ceilings, weapons, tiles from Iznik and Kütahya, embroidery, ornaments, superbly wrought articles from tekkes or dervish convents, calligraphy and tombstones, there is also a unique collection of turbans in various forms on display.
The early Ottoman architecture monuments is, Green Mosque and Green Mausoleum : Constructed between 1419 and 1420, It is called Green Mosque due to the green turquoise tiles used on adornments. It is one of the most important Ottoman period structure in Bursa, and the mosque is famous with its adornments much more than its architecture. So called for abundance of green and turquoise in the finish. This Structure is without a doubt the symbol of Bursa and is one of the most beautiful samples of Ottoman tomb architecture you can see here. It has an Octagonal structure, to which you can climb via a marble stairs and is covered by a lead dome perched on a high hoop. Its fully tile covered balcony is a master piece of art and we can easily say one of the most beautiful samples of the Ottoman wooden work, the door was built by transition technique of walnut tree, adorned with geometrical motifs and has inscription on it. Next to the historic identity, Bursa is also a very modern city with many large modern shopping malls, cinemas and cultural activities. At the end of the tour we will head back to Istanbul by ferry and from here you will then be transferred back to your starting points.
