Camping in Kaziranga & Hornbill Festival Tour

Welcome! Upon arrival you will be met by our local representative who will transfer you to Kaziranga National Park, which is 5 hour drive from Guwahati. The Park has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. You will be camping here in the premises of a private resort. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Early in the morning, you will be taken for Elephant Safari in the Central Range (Kohora) of the Kaziranga National Park. The Kohora range, mostly grassland, is famous for birds and animals such as rhino, deer and buffalo. After the safari return to the campsite for breakfast. In the afternoon after lunch, you will be taken for a Jeep Safari in the Western Range (Bagori) of the Kaziranga National Park. The Bagori range, mostly woodland, is famous for the big five—rhino, tiger, elephant, buffalo and deer. Overnight stay at the campsite.

After breakfast, you will travel to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland which is about 5 hour drive from Kaziranga National Park. Your campsite here will be near Kisama Heritage Village, the venue for Hornbill Festival about 12 kilometers from Kohima. There are tourist places of interest in Kohima such as the World-War II cemetery, the state museum, the catholic cathedral & the Naga bazaar. Overnight stay at the campsite in Kisama Village.

Hornbill Festival, named after the globally respected bird, the Hornbill festival organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture Department showcases a mélange of cultural displays under one roof. All the tribes of Nagaland take part in this festival. The festival aims to restore and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions. The festival is celebrated with vigor and gusto amid traditional arts, dances, folk songs, and games. There are also a lot of handicrafts stalls, food stalls, and rice beer to indulge in. After dusk, the main attraction is the Hornbill National Rock Concert where bands from across the country participate. Overnight stay at the campsite in Kisama Village.

After breakfast, you will be travelling to the base camp from where you will start the Dzuko Valley trek. On the way you will have a stopover at Khonoma Village brimming with history, culture, and nature. The 700-year-old village has a fascinating history as it was here that the Naga warriors made their last stand against the British in 1879. Today, Khonoma is a popular tourist spot, more so, because of the residents’ warm hospitality and commitment to ecological conservation. After reaching the base camp which is around 2 hour drive gets on your gear for some trekking along the lush green Dzuko Valley. The Dzuko River flows through this valley that adds to the sheer beauty of the valley. Overnight stay at the campsite in Dzuko Valley.
