In the heart of the Vlottenburg Valley, where the Eerste River winds its way through the tranquil landscape, lies the legendary Van Ryn’s Brandy Distillery. The rich history of this cellar dates back to 1845, when the Dutch immigrant Jan van Ryn arrived at the Cape. He established the Van Ryn’s Wine and Brandy Company, and with it a proud tradition of brandy excellence.True to its founder’s belief that the secret of a great brandy lies in the maturation, the cornerstone of the Van Ryn’s Brandy Cellar philosophy is “Excellence in Maturation”.

The House of J.C. Le Roux, South Africa’s first and leading cellar dedicated entirely to the art of making sparkling wine, is acclaimed for its passion, craftsmanship and expertise to make the finest vintage Méthode Cap Classiques in the time-honoured French style, and fun loving sparkling wines to suit every palate. Here we will do a Bubbly Marshmallow and Meringue tasting before we have a relaxing lunch at Le Venue Restaurant at JC Le Roux.

The history of Alto dates back to 1693. In the 1920’s the Malan family transformed the untamed land into vineyards. The estate’s reputation for producing world-class red wines can be ascribed, in part, to its excellent terroir.

Located in the Stellenbosch Winelands, the area is known as the Golden Triangle. In summer, when the vines are drenched in sunshine, the late-afternoon sea breezes cool the grapes, lengthening the ripening period and preserving the complex flavours of Alto’s noble varietals.
