Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trekking Tour

Package Overview

This peak is known as Imja Tse peak in Local Tibetan and Sherpa language in Everest region.The peak was named as Island peak by Eric Shipton and his party in 1953 because they viewed this peak like an island in the sea of ice from Dingboche. This peak altitude of 6189 meter was climbed by British team and Tenjing Norgay Sherpa in 1953 for the first time as a good preparation to summit Mt. Everest expedition. From the Island peak base camp at beggining part we walk mostly on black rocks. After few hours walking, we get snow and ice craveses the climbing starts hanging on ropes. Near the top, we have to climb in 45 degree and finally, we reach on the summit. The climbers can take benefits to view Lhotse Shar,Baruntse, Amphu and Amadablam to the south, Nuptse, Middle peak to the north and Cho polu and Makalu to the East from the top of island peak. This peak is technically not so difficult to climb than other peaks in Nepal. It's possible to take different itineraries to ascend this peak but we propose you this itinerary with trekking 3 cols high passes in Everest region for the better acclimatization and to succeed the climbing.Nepal visa fee 40 USD for a month. Nepal visa can be obtained at your country in Nepalese consulate office before arrival in Nepal or you can get Nepal visa after arrival in Kathmandu airport.

• Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu

  Trek to Phakding (2600m) 3hours. Overnight at tea house Lodge.

• Day 3 : Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar (3440m)

  The biggest ethnic Sherpa village, influenced by Tibetan Buddhist society and the gate way of Everest region. 6 hours Overnight at tea house Lodge.

• Day 4 : Namche acclimatization

  Trek from Lungde to Gokyo Lake crossing Renzo La Pass 5338m. 8 hours Overnight at Lodge.
• Day 8 : Trek from Gokyo Lake to Thangna

  Early in the morning, from Gokyo Lake ascent Gokyo Ri peak (5480m) and descend down to Gokyo Lake after having breakfast then trek to Thangna 8 hours Over night at Lodge.

• Day 9 : Trek from Thangna to Dzonglha

  Trek from Thangna (Dragnag) (4700m) to Dzonglha (4830m) via Chola Pass (5430m). 8 hours Over night at tea house Lodge.

• Day 10 : Trek from Dzongla to Lobuche

  Early in the morning, from Gorakshep ascent Kalapathar (5545m) to see the sun rise views in Everest Himalayan range including Pumori peak, Chhangte peak, Khumbutse peak, Amadablam, Lhotse peak ,Nutpse peak,Baruntse, the great Khumbu glacier etc. After having lunch at Gorakshep trek to Lobuche.

  Trek from Lobuche to Chhukung (4930m) via Kongma La Pass 5540m. It's the hardest journey among 3 cols pass trek. We should carry pack lunch for this long course. 9 hours Overnight at tea house Lodge.
