Zanzibar Beach Holidays: Further Reading Away from Zanzibar Island, Pemba is an island located to the North East and is still as easily accessible from Dar es Salaam. Pemba is perfect for those wishing for a more adventurous escape and to get away from the more popular beaches. Although, the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar are better known, the coral reefs thta surround Pemba in the turquoise water are perfect for snorkeling and scuba-diving. Jiambani is a great place to visit for the best kite surfing on the island as there are consistently good winds. However, our favourite hotels are admittedly up the road towards Paje and Dongwe. As you get further south, the beaches disappear and then up the west coast, apart from the attraction of Stone Town, beach wise, it really isn’t anything compared to the west.
