Package Overview

In this tour we will show you the unknown parts of Crete.

Our first stop is the traditional village of Kritsa located in Lasithi and is built at the foot of Kastellos mountain at an altitude of about 365 meters. The ladies of the village have created an association to make traditional Cretan products, using honey, oil and other natural produce from the area. They follow the recipes handed down over the generations. It is well worth a visit, to see and to buy some of the typical local products.

Leaving Kritsa we continue our trip up and drive to Plateau Katharo situated 16km away from the village of Kritsa and 1200 metres above sea level. Here we make a stop for coffee in one of the traditional coffee houses.

We continue our tour and drive through the forest of Selakano to Agia Paraskevi where we make a stop for a lunch in the traditional Cretan tavern beside the running waters.

Our next stop is the Gorge of Sarakina. It is a small gorge located near the village of Mythos, 22 km west of Ierapetra, in the southeast foot of Mount Dikti. Its length reaches 1.5 km. The width ranges from 10 to 3 meters and its walls reach a height of 150 m. Features despite the compact size, giving the landscape particularly impressive appearance. The Kryopotamos river rolls almost all the year and the natural environment is just amazing. Here we will meet rich vegetation of big trees, oleanders, myrtles, wickers, ponds and waterfalls.

After visiting the gorge we continue our trip and few minutes later we reach the beautiful village of Myrtos located on the southern cost of Crete. Here you will have time to swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan sea and take a walk through this magnificent place.

On the way back we stop in Gournia, a Minoan palace complex located near Pahia Ammos. It was excavated in the early 20th century by the American archaeologist Harriet Boyd – Hawes. The ancient settlement dating from the Late Minoan I period ( 1550-1450 BC ) and preserved in good condition, so called ” Pompeii of Minoan Crete “.
