Kalsubai Trek From Pune

Nestled in the Western Ghats, Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra. It has an elevation of 1646 meters (5400 fts). A famous Kalsubai temple situated at its peak is visited by tourist all-round the year. As the story goes, the mountain is christened on a woman’s name. Kalsubai, who was ousted from the village by villagers, started living at this mountain peak and died there. Hence the mountain was named “Kalsubai”.

This entire range is amazing from the trekking point of view. Though small in length, this range has some of the tallest peaks and toughest forts. Starting from west to east this range contains Kulang, Madan, Alang forts. Top of Kalsubai peak gives an excellent view of all these forts.

During monsoon, this peak offers stunning views of Sahyadri range; astounding view of Bhandardara. The place where happiness knows no level, your eyes don’t blink to behold the beauty of endless mountain range & the breeze hits your cheek because no other mountain stand to same level. Flowers blossoming in the landscape with a lush green panoramic view make this place one of the most beautiful places in Western Ghats. The Kalsubai trek route is a mix of easy to ascend slopes and fickle rocky outcrops, Due to which the government has built iron ladders along the vertical hill slopes.
