Get a chance to camp around frozen Juda ka Talab where was once a place for meditation of Lord Shiva. Experience walking in the middle of the night in, the head torches lighting the way and watching the sunrise from the top of a mountain before you reach Summit.

Kedarkantha trek is such a popular winter trek that it would be apt to entitle it as the Queen of Winter Treks. Knee-deep snow in winters, mesmerizing view from the top, and the beautiful and easy trails make it popular among trekkers. The ‘easy on endurance’ trail goes through the thick pine forests of Govind National Park. The views from the top are worth climbing to an altitude of 12,500 ft. Kedarkantha trek will give you an inimitable view of the cosmic sky, lush meadows, snow paths, charming villages, scented pine forest, sky-knocking peaks, tranquil rivers, and some mythological story whispers.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival at Sankri (Altitude: 6,400 feet)

    Reporting Point: Dehradun Railway Station
    Expected arrival time at Sankri – 5:00 pm
    BSNL network erratic
    220 km drive – approx 10 hours

    Activities : Mountaineering

  • Day 2

    Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab (Altitude: 6,400 feet to 9,100 feet)

    4 kms trek, approx 5 hours
    The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, few streams and finally opens out to beautiful meadows
    Stay in tents

    Activities : Camping , Trekking , Mountaineering

  • Day 3

    Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base (Altitude: 9,100 feet to 11,250 feet)

    4 kms trek, approx 2.5 hours
    Most of today’s trail is on a ridge, under oak trees
    You will also pass through some meadows where you can spot shepherd log huts
    Peaks :- Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana stand among the others
    Stay in tents

    Activities : Camping , Trekking

  • Day 4

    Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha peak; descend via Hargaon to Juda Ka Talab (Altitude: 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet to 8,900 feet)

    6 kms trek, approx 7 hours
    Spend some time at the summit and descend back to the base camp by noon for lunch
    Post lunch, descend down via Hargaon
    Reach Juda Ka Talab by evening
    Stay in tents

  • Day 5

    Juda Ka Talab to Sankri

    Altitude: 8,900 feet to 6,400 feet
    6 kms trek, approx 4 hours
    Descend 2500 feet through dense pine forests

    Activities : Trekking , Mountaineering

  • Day 6

    Departure day (Sankri to Dehradun)

    Distance: 220 km drive, approx 10 hours
    You will be dropped at Dehradun Railway Station
    Event Fee:
    Dehradun To Dehradun : Rs. 8,500/- only
    Delhi to Delhi : Rs. 10,400 (Sleeper Ac bus From Delhi to Dehradun)
    Mumbai to Mumbai : Rs. 14,900 (3 tier AC train till Delhi, Ac bus from Delhi to Dehradun)

  • Medications if required for individual
  • And a haversack or backpack to put all the above things to be carried, so hands are free to help each other while trekking. Sling bags / jholas / trolley bags etc not allowed on the event. Please pack accordingly.
  • (Note: Delhi to Delhi & Mumbai to Mumbai trip cost may vary depending of Availability of bus/train, Availability of Coach, & depending on rates published by respective authorities. )

Please Note

  • Avoid wearing precious ornaments on an event, if possible
  • Participants will be responsible for their own belongings and health issues.
  • Avoid wearing gold or other costly jewellery.
  • Smoking and Drinking are strictly prohibited.
  • Keep in mind we are going for Camping, so maintain discipline and follow the leader’s instructions for your own safety.
  • Trip leader’s decision will be final and binding.
  • In case, due to some unavoidable conditions (like natural disaster, change in government or local authorities policy etc) the event gets cancelled before/on the event date or during trek, Trek fees will be refunded except nominal expenses which are already spent till that point.
